I have been searching for a few days about this problem and have yet to find the solution. I bought a 2005 a few days ago and since that time it has rained every day. I turned the wipers on to the delayed/intermediate setting and after about 20 cycles the wipers stop mid-windshield and stayed there for about 30 seconds and started back up. They would continue to to cycle and again would stop and start back up. After a while they just stopped in the parked position. Other wiper settings (slow and fast) worked fine.
I haven't seen a solution to this on the forums yet. I replaced the mini-relay as a cheap quick fix and still have the same problem. Could this be the wiper switch on the column or is it in the wiper motor?

Thanks in advance
Most likely the multi function switch is not working correctly. It could be a loose wire in the connector as well, or a relay.
Here is the Wiring schematic for the wiper functions.
