Back up camera
If I supply power from my cigarette lighter to the power side of the camera but I have not hooked up the wiring to the reverse light yet. Will the scree still light up with power bring supplied or do I have to have a complete installation before the screen lights up ?

I have an aftermarket Kenwood Stereo that I hooked my backup camera in; the screen would not show the backup view until I hooked up the wires from the head unit and camera up to the reverse lights. I would guess, that even if you are using a separate/dedicated screen, the camera still will not activate unless it's wired into the reverse lights and the car is put in reverse. There are other's here that should be able to provide a more definitive answer

If you have the other video hook ups complete, your camera will work with any 12 volt circuit, 12 volts is 12 volts doesn't matter where it comes from, i wired mine with a 3 position switch, one wire from the reverse light, one wire from a steady 12 volt circuit, the switch is on, off, on, this allows the camera to turn on when in reverse, or completely off, or on when i put it on manually, most of the time i use the manual on switch when i pull into a parking spot allows me to see how far from the white line i am as i move forward, or if i think someone is too close to me when i'm driving.
