Hello everyone,
I finally bought my dream car a 2011 red metallic Corvette with 58k miles, after the 3rd week my excitement was down played by the traction control system and the handling control system error message came across the dash. The service engine light is on and it hardly runs, it will need to be towed.
I did buy the factory warranty from the dealership, Allstate is the warranty company. I contacted them and there shouldn't be a problem getting it fixed(I hope!)
My question is: Is this a common problem with 2011 models? Any recalls?
Any dealings with Allstate?
I love the rush of owning a Vette, just pains me that this happened before the first payment!
Thank you,
Paul
You have to be tough to own a vette says the 50 yr. old 1st time owner myself. Once you get the minor bugs worked out you will be lovin it again. I replaced my balancer, tensioners, belts, fluids and it has run fine for 6200 miles almost daily. They need to be driven. I bought mine in Feb. Enjoy!!!
I recommend you not read the code with a scan tool because that could accidentally lead you directly to the problem.
Dude! Really? Did you not read that he is basically a nube to the Corvette world and highly unlikely that he owns a scan tool! Wouldn't it have just as easy to say something else besides kicking a guy while he is down?
Had to vent!
Op... Hopefully it is minor and only a battery issue. Let us know the outcome and BTW... Welcome to CF!
One other thing I thought of is my M6 manual has to be parked in Reverse otherwise it was throwing codes when I first purchased the car. From you post I don't know if you have a manual or not. The best thing I did was watch the 2 hour owners instructional video.

Thank you for the information on the video. I will defiantly look into
It.

We all understand the "rush" of owning your first Vette. You will have way more fun than headache. Enjoy.
All good, no apologies needed. The Dealership replaced the cranking sensor and I replaced the battery myself. Now, I'm tackling the airbag light that came back on after the dealership said nothing was wrong after they looked at it.
Talked with the service manager and he wants to check the wiring under the seat. The wires can get damaged from the seat moving forward and back, but the safety system will still work. The only problem is that the dealership that I bought it from is 2 hours away in AL. They wanted me to bring it down there for the airbag. I completely brain locked about asking about the light when we bought the car. (feel stupid now)I'm a operations manager that deals with error codes on equipment daily. My wife is putting me on the wall of shame....LoL
