No trip on I-80 western Nebraska complete without a stop at Ole's Big Game lounge at Paxton.
Small town breakfast will hit the spot. Hard to get decent photos in this light but they definitely have a trophy collection.
We just left the Yellowstone Lake Lodge, yesterday. I hope you took a pair of jeans and a jacket or sweatshirt. It got down to 33 degrees night before last. We had a great time, and are now in southern Utah to visit Zion, Bryce Canyon, and Monument Valley. Then on to the Grand Canyon for two days, beginning Sunday. Rt 66 after that.
We went in October. The black bear were in the valley of Teton Nat. Park fattening up before hibernation. Saw several right by the road. We were in Lamar valley which is in the NE part of Yellowstone and came up on several vehicles parked off the road. We watched 2 grizzlies on a bison carcass fighting off a pack of about 8 wolves. One of the coolest things I've ever seen. Great trip.
Have lunch at The Bird, on the south side of Jackson, west side of the highway. Pizza? Leeks Marina in GTNP. Best place to pick up a nice bottle of wine to share in the evening? TLS (the Liquor Store) Albertsons Supermarket complex. I was District Ranger on the Blackrock District of the BTNF, office at the western foot of Togwotee Pass. Post or PM if I can help.

View from our balcony. Check out the snow in June. Would be hard to find a more scenic interstate than I-80 between Eagle and Glenwood Springs. Cruising near Glenwood More of I-80 near Glenwood. On way to Moab. Angled down from I-70 to Moab along east side of park. Don't remember the hi way number but is terrific. Great way to end the day with dinner and even live music at the Blu Pig in Moab. Ready for the sack after a full day.
Day 3. Driving into Arches national park. It's just amazing. Continue in the park. Phone camera doesn't do justice to landscape like this. In the park. Leaving Arches Here's the crew.
Bit of bad luck on way to Salt Lake City. The C7 Z06 punctured a tire just south of Provo. Imagine finding Z06 tires on a Saturday afternoon. Long story short they'll be ready Monday morning in time to make our official departure location of Logan UT. Every one was helpful though.
Now we're all catching our breath tomorrow. Plan to get over and see the lake. 😊
One more piece of advice. When you head up into NW WY, check road conditions daily. There was a tremendous snowpack this winter that has caused problems. My wife is headed that way tomorrow to visit friends in Dubois and Jackson. Her friend in Dubois texted her this morning that the highway between Riverton and Dubois was closed in both directions because of flooding. Snake River Canyon, south of Jackson has had problems with rock slides.
Just check for updates--might influence your direction of travel.
If you can, go to Zion. In the past few days, we have been to Arches, Capitol Reef, Bryce Canyon, and Zion. Zion is our favorite, by far. We were at Monument Valley this morning and staying at the Grand Canyon tonight and tomorrow night.
We stayed at the same place in Moab back in September with a bunch of car friends (Corvette's, Camaro's and a couple of Rustang's). We rented most of the place.
