Anyone here replace your seat bottom cover yet ?
I have a 2011 GS with the standard perforated 'sport' seats in ebony color (non-heated) ... I bought the car new, and it now has 17,000 miles on it.
The interior is in perfect condition, with the exception of the driver's seat bottom. The seat bottom is starting to get an overall 'worn' look that I don't like.
Well, today I ordered an OEM perforated ebony seat bottom cover from Trunk Monkey Parts (a forum vendor) .... GM P/N: 19293094
I think I will also order the aftermarket Heavy Duty Seat Bottom Foam from DJ Motorsport http://www.shop.djmotorsportaccessor...8&categoryId=1

Just wondering if anyone else here has been through all this too?
The deal is ... I do most of the work on my GS, but in the case of upholstery items such as recovering seats, I think I might just remove the driver's seat myself and take the seat to an automotive upholstery shop and let them install the seat bottom foam and cover.
If any of you folks have had this done at a shop, what did the shop charge you to replace the seat bottom covering (if you remove the seat yourself).
Thanks,
Ron

Thanks ... In my case, all I would need is the driver's seat bottom only

BTW, that OEM seat bottom cover wasn't too expensive either:
$169.60 for the cover -$16.96 XMAS 10% discount code and free shipping = $ 152.64 (no tax)

I just did my seat bottom{drivers} I had the heavy duty foam and I had the "rebuild kit" southern car parts? friggin awesome! I was 350 lbs and pretty much destroyed the seat, even kneeled on it and broke the wires under it, bought a seat to replace it but it turned out to be a 3lt and didn't have the proper wiring to hook it up, so I farmed the wire grid out of it put it in my seat and the new HD foam and the rebuild kit, used it all ballistic cloth and felt and juke. I actually sit to high now {6'3} I'm sure over time I will wear it in. it's wonderful having a comfortable seat again! it was EASY DIY don't pay some one to do it.

I replaced my foam with the heavy duty foam and the upgrade kit also. Be very careful installing the new seat cover. Make sure the velco lines up correctly. If not be extra gentle pulling it back off. The Velcro on the foam pulled loose when I tried to reposition the cover.

I removed my bottom seat cover to install the rebuilt kit from Southern Car Parts as the left hand side was getting flattened out. The seat bottom cushion was cut by the seat frame. I reglued the foam together at the cut, installed the rebuild kit, and installed the seat cushion and it looks like new. Even the creases in the leather got smoothed out. I did buy hog ring pliers and some hog rings to finish the installation. It was super easy to remove and re-install.
Good luck

Thanks everyone for your input ... I have a question:
After taking the driver's seat out of the car ... did you separate / remove the seat back from the seat bottom before removing your seat bottom cover and foam?

LV2TOUR ....
Thanks for the link.
I just was thinking that it might be better to separate the seat bottom from the seat back [if] I was to take the seat to a shop to have the new seat bottom cover and foam replaced ... just bring the seat bottom to the shop.
Maybe I'm wrong ?
Thanks for the link.

It actually pretty straight forward to do the work yourself. This was the first time I did this type of work but using directions on this site it turned out great. I changed out both seat covers twice (changed the interior colors recently).

I just had all new skins installed on both seats, which I took out, for $200. That might have been a bit low, but I can't see ever having to spend over $300 for the install for both seats.

Well, yesterday I ordered the correct seat bottom cover from Trunk Monkey Parts. I also ordered the heavy duty seat bottom foam from DH Motorsport.
I was worried that the seat frame steel wires might cut the new seat foam over time, so I ordered a 36" x 36" piece of 1/4" thick jute padding to install between the seat frame wires and the foam .... I now realize that ordering the jute padding may have been something I really don't need because the DH Motorsport seat bottom foam also comes with a 'wire pad' which keeps the foam from being cut by the seat frame wires (see photo below).
oh well ....

You don't need to. Also, don't use the hog rings; just use zip ties. It's much easier, and nobody will ever know the difference.
