C6 less issues than C5?
Looking at purchasing a C6 after not owning a vette for a few years. I was so disappointed with the quality of my C5, (headlight motors, driver seat mount, faulty fuel gage, traction control warning, etc) I've been without for awhile. But of course, the bug has bitten me again. Is there a list of common issues somewhere on the forum for C6? I couldn't find anything. Any advice on what to look for in these models?

In that thread, the third link provided is labeled as "C6 FAQ."

You think maybe it's barely possible that "FAQ" stands for "Frequently Asked Questions?"
Doesn't anyone looking for information bother to look at the stickies in each section of the forum?

My C5 (99) was practically haunted. Lots of electrical gremlins, and the seats were awful.
I haven't had any mechanical problems with the C6 (08). I did replace the clutch MC, because it could possibly fail. And replaced the headlight lenses. Otherwise, just maintenance.

Thought about C5, but every one I test drove mileage from 100k to 140k, all rattled and squeaked like crazy. Closing doors sounded like an old toolbox. Then I tried C6, night day diff. Same miles, just that much more quiet, comfy, fast with the LS3 at 436HP, was an easy choice for me, my 2 cents!!

What I've had in the 12k miles I've owned the car.
Harmonic balance that is too common.
Air bag dash light from faulty wiring under seat.
Window regulator.
Tonneau pull down.
Service Traction Control light.
Foggie headlight lenses.

Have had my '06 vert since Sept '13. Had 22,000 miles, now has over 40,000. Haven't had a single problem. I changed rear end oil and got rid of the clunk, changed coolant, and had four wheel alignment. I average 1,000/mo during our short Wisconsin driving season. The car has been faultless.

We had a C5 a number of years ago that we purchased with 24,000 miles on the odom. We had zero problems with it in the year that we owned it (sold it due to the need for another more practical car at the time) and 18,000 miles we put on it.
We bought a C6 (2007 base coupe - Z51, A6, 3LT) last October and have had only minor issues with it (crazed headlamp lenses - still clear and don't scatter the light much yet, and a shaking rear view mirror, which I repaired for about $5).
Needless to say, the C6 is comfortable, but with the Z51 suspension, rides more stiffly than our C5 did (it had the base FE3 suspension). Also, the C6 is an electronic "tour de force", meaning it has more things which could go wrong than did the C5. Anyway, that's my two cents worth.

I have to ask. In 18,000 miles, why did the car need 4 wheel alignments?

I think we should just shut down the forums and only allow people to search for info from previously started threads...even though some of them might be 10 years old and that there can't possibly be any new information to these topics because nothing changes in the C6 market...
Asking previously posted questions and starting new threads is essential in the continual knowledge of our cars and in new developments that arise...

I've had my 2008 C6 for almost 5 years. The only things I have done is replace the oil pan gasket, and all 4 stabilizer end links. Everything else has just been routine maintenance. Its been a very dependable and reliable car.
