What A Road Trip!
This past weekend I led 15 Corvettes on a 3 day road trip from Colorado Springs, CO to Ouray (you-ray), CO. We couldn't have asked for a better time. Here are some photos:
Drizzle and fog till we hit Wilkerson Pass.
Palisades Restaurant in Gunnison, CO coned off parking spaces for us.
A shot from the hotel parking lot.
Restored stage coach at the hotel.
Near the True Grit Cafe in Ridgway, CO. If you're a John Wayne fan, be sure to go there.
Waiting our turn to go through a construction zone.
Still waiting.
Looking down at Silverton, CO.
Rest stop north of Durango, CO.
That's a GR1 in the foreground.
Stopped again.
Red Mountain Pass pull off.
Downtown Ouray, CO.

Really beautiful! Been a long time since I've been there. Maybe too long.

The mountain pass into Ouray is unbelievable. It was originally a mining road, used by mules and wagons, several of which slid over the side in the winter. Scary road for most people. It was featured on one of the shows, something like "America's Most Dangerous Roads",or something like that. My wife was a bit tense when we went up the pass and down into Durango.

Colorado is on the list of road trips. I've been skiing in the winter but one day I'll get my summer trip up there. Beautiful country.
Question: Why do people buy convertibles but when they are in perfect convertible weather the top is up?
WHY?!?!?!

We didn't. Our time was tight. We wanted to do the San Juan Scenic Skyway (Hwy 145), but when we were eating lunch in Dolores, we were informed Hwy 145 between Dolores and Telluride was being chip sealed. Upon hearing that, everybody said "Let's turn around and go back the way we came."
