Default How is FOB key supposed to operate?

Just bought a 2013 vert 427 and owner didn't have owners manual. I have one coming now.
1. I get out of car walk away 20' horn sounds once, I turn around and come back and it unlocked for me.
2. I do the same thing again as #1 but come back in an hour, walk up to open door (fob in my pocket) and it's locked, can't open door. I then press unlock manually And door unlocks?

My question is, shouldn't it unlock when ever I return with the FOB in my pocket?

One of the fobs was probably lost by PO and a replacement was added without the original being deleted by the long program. The programing will accept up to 4 fobs but only the primary #1 and #2 will work with the #1 and #2 drivers presets door buttons and their programing.

I would put new battery in the one FOB that is not working first. If it starts to work, I would then change the battery in the other FOB. This should be your first step.

I think you can get your owners manual on line - it comes up as a pdf.

easier to use than a book of paper

My question is, shouldn't it unlock when ever I return with the FOB in my pocket? Yes it should. Probably the FOB battery.

Another answer, besides the FOB battery, is that the car is still unlocked until you hear the horn beep. Then the car is locked and you have to have a good FOB to have it unlock when you return. I assume you have the DIC set to Passive lock with horn to sound. You can change that if you want but have to lock and unlock with a good FOB then.

You can also change the settings in the DIC without starting the car. You just have to push and hold the bottom part of the starter button for about 10 seconds and the DIC will come to life and you can push the Options button to bring up the current settings and push the Reset button to make a change. Push the option button again and DIC will go to the next setting.
