OK, I just got back from having my windows tinted and decided to try programming my memory seat. I've read thru the manual and my FOB has number 2 on the back. I pressed and held the number 1 button on the door, got the chirp, the display read Jeff (not me) and not only did my seat and steering wheel change position but all my radio presets AND the screen color changed. I reprogrammed my stations but now have a question...Is there a way to clear whatever was stored and start from scratch? I do like the blue touchscreen vs the green

I have my personalized greeting set for my FOB #1, and as long as I use that FOB, it does give me that geeting. That is done through the Options of the DIC. Now, just because your FOB says #2 on it, it could have been programmed for the #1 FOB in the DIC.
You will have to go in the Options /personalized menu of the DIC and select FOB #1 or #2 to correspond to which ever is actuially the correct FOB number. I'm sure you can play around in the Options menu and get to know what your FOB #2 is. the main one or the secondary one.
Once you have figured that out, using your main FOB, program all the stuff that you want, radio channels, color schemes, seat position, mitrror positions etc. Now with all the stuff programmed, press the #1 botton on the door panel until it beeps twice. That will lock in your selections and overide any other previous programs.
Hope that helps. Worst case, you can read the owners manual, either the paoer one or the online version for clarity
do the number 2 on the door, think they are fob specific
you can go into the setting, and change the name, get things the way you like them, then program the saved setting as preset 2
I was able to get into settings which I was unable to do before. It used to read options unavailable. I put my name in but don't know how to delete Jeff..........actually it now reads jeff G
You have to go through every spot where there can be a character and leave it blank. That will get rid of the G that's in there now

Good luck

I see by your join date that you just joined. Did you just get this car?
I had a similar situation when we got our 2007 last November. Ours came with 2 #2 fobs and only one of them would let you set any of the personal settings and the other fob produced the message "unavailable" when trying to set.
The original fob must have been lost and a replacement was programmed into the system but the lost fob was still attached to the #1 button.
I ordered a #1 fob from ebay and did the long program which deletes all the fobs and starts all over with the fob assignment. Since I have 2 #2 fobs and one of them was quite beat up since it was the primary before so I kept it for a spare.
I was quite surprised at how some people just drive their cars without optimizing them or taking th trouble to read and learn the operators manual as I recently out of curiosity checked the compass deviation of the direction display in the OnStar mirror head and found it was still set to the region of Bowling Green Kentucky. I had to change it to region 3 the Pacific Northwest.

Yes. I picked it up two weeks ago. It's my 4th vette. I've had 2 c3's and a c4. It only came with one number 2 key fob. I have a new one from ebay that is also a number 2. The dealer didn't have the key so I ordered a set of them too. Once I have them I can program the new fob and make it number 1. Or do the long version.
OK. Jeff is gone. I have my name and purchase date on my DIC. Still have two nagging questions..........Can whatever is currently programmed for 1 & 2 be undone/deleted and should I have ordered a new key fob numbered 1 instead of now having two 2's? I promise after this I am done......................hopefully..... .I do appreciate your patience.
Whatever setting you program and save for 1 & 2 will overwrite the previous settings. Just set everything the way you want and press either one or two on the door until it beeps twice. The number on the back of the fob doesn't mean anything. It's just a way for you to tell them apart. Inside they are identical.
Edit: I just saw where LV2TOUR said that same thing yesterday.

That's exactly the advice I was looking for... I'll just get some white out and number the new one when I get my keys made......
OK....I promise this is the last question. The settings are good, my name is in the DIC but after turning the car off and back on, the radio color scheme goes back to green instead of blue which is preferable. Can the color scheme be changed independently from the DIC settings?
