My 2007 3LT Convertible is 10 years old but only has 28,000 miles. I am thinking of changing spark plugs (just because). It runs great after warmup but slightly rough when cold.
Questions.
Should I change them or leave them alone?
The stock plugs are ACDelco 41-985. I've heard they have been replaced with ACDelco 41-110.
If I change them should I use the new 41-110's or replace them with the 41-985s?
cost is much less than $10 each if you don't buy from dealer. Try ebay, or rock auto (I prefer RA). If you hurry at Rockauto, AC/Delco might still have a rebate going. I bought my set of 8 -110 plugs (correct ones for you) for about $42, and got a $24 rebate, the check from which is sitting here on my desk.
The wires on not very costly, either. Since you are doing one, I would do the other, also.
I am not saying you need to do it, but if you do it....

And check with the plug maker/etc. Many include warnings now not to use antisieze, as they have a coating and antisieze messes with the ground path and causes issues.
From: Gurnee IL. so close to Wisc. I can smell it when they cut the cheese
97TRC, If you use quality fuel and don't have any mech. issues you should get upwards to 100,000 mi. on your plugs. That said, if you would feel better replacing your plugs then by all means do it. The only downside is the cost and if that doesn't bother you do it. The peace of mind is worth the price just be careful with the plug wires.
p.s. if you change them w/only 28,000 I would be glad to have the old ones..........just kidding
Just to say you changed the plugs??? I wouldn't touch them. With that few miles, it would better to change the gas. Drive it. It will be ok.
I just did a plug change on our 2005 Buick Lacrosse at 115,000 miles. The plugs had very little erosion and the gap had hardly changed.
I was amazed at their condition. They were the original plugs. We only have 9000 miles on our 2007 Corvette. It will be a long time before I change those plugs!
Please send a money order to me at "Just Because Corvette Parts & Repair". Leave the garage door open and I'll stop by to swap the plugs for you and you'll feel much better. Pay no attention to the fact the plugs will look just like the originals.
While I'm there, I can also do the 3000 mile oil change, the "I never drive the car" air filter change, and for a limited time only, swap the spark plug wires....All at extra cost of course
I can tell you the existing plugs will come out new, however, I would only be concerned about the existing plugs getting fused into the engine and change out for that reason alone.
Okay. I've made the decision to leave the plugs alone. If I changed them I would also change the plug wires. So I no touch. Thanks everyone for your input.
