Has anyone here set off the panic button deliberately?
I've hit mine accidentally about a thousand times in my pocket, but never on purpose.
Yes, I've hit mine accidentally many times and it is very aggravating to say the least. I don't keep mine in my pocket anymore I hook it on my belt loop and that seem to help a little but still when I stoop over or lean against something or whatever it sets it off. maybe it has something to do with my fat belly. Anyways now I'm thinking about hooking it on a lanyard and hanging it around my neck.
I find the best way is to make sure the buttons are not facing your body if you are one who puts it in the pocket. I keep mine on a the thingamjig on my belt loop outside my pocket where the buttons won't touch anything to set it off.
This fob cover seems to provide the buttons a little more clearance where it is not a problem anymore. For me, it was not the panic button but the trunk button. Plus I insert my house key (which I rarely need) in the backside of it.
I used to accidentally set it off when I was getting out of the car. I have since removed the fob from my key chain and put it on a lanyard by itself. Hasn't happened to me since.
Carry mine in my left front pocked and have never set it off accidently; have never had reason to set it off on purpose
I keep mine in same pocket but the button gets pressed when I bend down. I don't mind the horn beeping, but when it pops open the rear hatch. I don't even realize it is open until I'm driving and hear air coming in. That's when I notice the DIC message saying the hatch is open.
I use the panic button to protect the car. I have an elderly neighbor who walks her mutt dog past my drive every evening at 7pm. If the vette is in the drive the damn mutt pees on my wheels and tires every time. The woman stops and lets him. Why my vette?
I have "nicely" asked the elderly woman to keep her dog off my property and walk on other side of the street. She did not take it well and won't stop, so...
Next night set a little trap. I set up by front window and waited. Sure enough 7:05 woman and dog stop at my drive dog sniffs tire and hikes a leg. This time it appears like the old women is acting as look out. I hit the panic button the little mutt jumps straight up 2 feet in the air the old lady nearly passes out in shock. Then I holler " Got You now" out the window, both take off.
Wife scolds me for scaring the old lady and swats me with her evening news paper. I'm laughing my butt off and blocking swats. Next night I am poised at the window panic button in hand but this time the elderly woman and her mutt are on other side of the street. I smile and wave. I won.
Moral of story don't mess with old men we have sick minds and do loose it often.

I keep the fob in my pocket and have accidentally set it off a few times while the car was in the garage. Never thought about using it as a warning device.
