Default OBD Code P0430 C6 Corvette

My 2006 Base Corvette 6.0L has 51,000 miles and Check Engine Liight came on. The OBD Code P0430 Bank 2 (Passenger Side) refers to catalyst system low efficiency. With the lower mileage than the estimated catalytic converter life could the problem be the cat, 02 sensor or something else?
Any thoughts ??

9 times out of 10, it's the aft o2 sensor on the passenger side. Watching the sensor via a datalogger would show if it's lazy. Can also look to see if there's a wiring issue.

If you can do the work yourself, the sensor is in the $35-$50 range.

Thanks. I appreciate your input. My rule is to try the easiest thing first.

If the car is running good with no misfires, I would think that also.
Has anyone or anything been done to the car recently?
Update us when you get it sorted out.

Thanks. The car runs good and no misfires or lagging going up hills. Nothing has been done recently except for new thermostat and Fan Control Module. Was fine after those changes... Cat Converters are very pricey so it will be a process of elimination..[

Likely a rear O2 sensor, passenger's side. Rear sensors on an LS3 are not switching sensors. You have an LS2 and I believe they're the same. The ECM does a periodic "request" from the rear sensors to compare to a threshold voltage. That's all. As the cat ages (or quits) or the O2 sensor ages (or quits), the threshold is not met and P0430 or 20 is set.

If you're the adventurous type, combined with the frugal type, and you want to test it, clear the code, Switch the rear O2 sensors, leftside to rightside, etc. Take the car for a drive and see if a P0420 is set. If so, the sensor is the culprit.

But, warning, the ECM only makes periodic checks on that rear sensor. You might need to drive it for several miles after the switch. Or, if the light never comes back then it was just a freak one-off failure.
