Default Spark Plug Life

I have a 2007 C6 LS2 and try to keep it in top condition. I drive it very little - about 3,000 miles per year - and change the oil annually and all other fluids every 5 years.

What about the spark plugs? Do they really last 100K miles? I've noticed my Average MPG is dropping a bit, but it may simply be due to less freeway driving.

Am I overworrying the spark plug life?

Just curious???

I've run Platinum plugs in other vehicles for the last 25 years, and run them up to 90000+ miles of normal driving... I don't see where the corvette engine would treat them any different......as long as you aren't tracking the car.

What do others say?

Yup ... the days of changing the plugs, points and condenser every 10,000 miles have long long gone by.

OEM are Iridium and claimed life is 100,000.
I changed mine at 95,000 and wished I had done them at 80,000. Did my second change at 175,000 and the plugs looked much better than the original set.

Original set were clean and dry but worn down more than I would have liked. So 80,000 intervals it is for me.

95k on mine when I changed them and they looked like they could have gone another 100k
So don't worry.

Changed mine at 85,000 and they looked almost new except for the color.. I would say 100,000 miles might be underestimating them......WW

^This. If your car is stock, then go with stock iridium plugs and you'll get years and years of use based on how you drive the car. If you have mods, you'll have to at least check them more often to see if they're doing ok. The more mods, potentially the less life. All depends on the tune and parts that were modified.

The plugs are more than likely still good....even their gap...at your 3K miles per year for 11 years.

It can be recommend after five years to remove and replace the plugs to breaks any aluminum to steal metal electrolysis.

It could also be possible that a spark plug "puck" has fallen off. So a visual inspection can be a good thing.

I don't think you have a plug related drivability/ fuel economy issue.

Have fun.

At least 100,000 +++. My 1995 Chevrolet pickup had 110,000 on it when I changed the plugs and they still looked brand new, so I'm guessing your 2007 Corvette will last 150,000 + miles. With only 35,000, I certainly wouldn't worry about them.
