Default Maintenance Time?

I've had my C6 for 11 years and it now has 25,000 fairly easy miles on it. I've been thinking about what maintenance needs to be done. It is an automatic and I've only done oil and filter changes about every 6 months since I've owned it - changed the cabin air filter once. It is stock except for air intake, Baer drilled /slotted rotors, new pads (at about 2000 miles) and Z51 spring, swaybars and Koni shocks. I'm thinking all fluid and filters need to be changed. Anything else I should do?

Fluids for sure and tires, if still on originals.

Probably wont hurt. I would also change the gas a few more times. Fill it up, drive it around. When it gets low, rinse and repeat. Do this about 4-5 more times in the next month. Then it be good to go

I'm guessing it's an 2006 ?? Mine is an 06 and has about 25-K on it also. I don't always follow the "Experts" when they start talking about maintenance on a low mileage vehicle. I change the oil every 2 years. That change your oil every year regardless of mileage or your motor will melt thought is a myth. I finally changed the coolant after 9 years....the old stuff looked fine after I drained it. That change your coolant every 2 years or your motor will fall apart due to all the rust is a myth. Still haven't changed the brake fluid. It still looks pretty good, but i will probably change it soon anyway. That change your brake fluid every 2 years or your master cylinder will seize up and cause a crash is a myth. I changed the diff. fluid...but only to get rid of the snap-crackle-pop that these C-6's are known for. Diff fluid will last for years. If yours isn't snappun and poppun I wouldn't mess with it. That change your diff fluid every 2 years or your ring and pinion will burn up is a myth. Anyway....do some research and do what ever makes you feel the most comfortable and drive on......

Went through the Goodyear's in 12,000 miles. Have had Firestone run flats - noisier but they show little wear.

It isn't the forum experts that came up with those intervals. It's in the owners manual.

My OM says change the oil when the "change engine oil" light comes on or at least once a year if the light does not come on before then.

As far as coolant and brake fluid, there are inexpensive testers that you can buy that tell you when your coolant additives are no longer effective and when your brake fluid (or clutch fluid) has too much moisture. I wouldn't rely on visual inspection of fluids.

Yea...I understand, but the owners manual is probably more for people that put the average 12 - 15-K miles a year on their car. I have no problem relying on visual inspection of fluids. For instance if I can easily read the dip stick through the oil then I know that theres no dyer need for an oil change just yet. This of course is assuming that you also don't see a milky color or some bright shinny particles in it...LOL. Same with coolant. If it still has a good solid color to it and theres no build up in the reservoir then theres no big rush for a coolant change. You can learn a lot from just a visual inspection of your fluids....if you know what your looking for......

x2 with windy.
Maintenance is no different than any other car; there are some that will have you believe these cars are soooo fragile they need all kinds of special sauces and routines it just isnt true.

Maybe I'm too OCD, but I prefer to follow official technical manual specifications and procedures rather than some seat of the pants mojo.

That may be true, but they don't qualify that schedule in the Corvette OM. Most car manuals will say something like 7000 miles/12months whichever comes first. the Corvette manual just says no more than a year. My 2013 Miata had a 7000 mile/6month oil change schedule in the OM.

Same with coolant. If it still has a good solid color to it and theres no build up in the reservoir then there's no big rush for a coolant change.
I've never seen any service manual that indicated how to determine coolant life by color.

These principles are no different than any other car.

The Corvette manual is not written very well, but the maintenance schedules are the same as any other car I've owned recently.

Oil and coolant don't care whether they are in a Camry, Corvette or Koenigsegg.
