Sure it's not leaking? Before you go nuts get under it and check.

Check the oil level; if the level is low, it could be a small leak, especially if you haven't notice an abnormal amount of smoke coming from the exhaust. If the level is good, a good suspect would be the oil pump.

My advice would be to add oil!

You said 43,000 miles... Sense last oil change, Checked oil or in total?

A bit of sarcasm there. How long has it been sense you changed oil? Did you do it or some flunky? Did you check the flunkies work to make sure it was truly full? Is burning a quart every 100, 500, 1000, 5000 miles? How bad is bad?

manzar ...... Check the oil level on the dipstick

Have you checked that?

Is it up to the full line on the dipstick (or at least above the 'Add' line)?

So the lube, oil and filter flunky a the dealer changed the oil 5 months ago. Did you check the oil after it was changed? How many miles ago was that? Your refusal to answer basic questions is not helping.

Why does it suck.

Look to see if you have a leak. If not you need to start looking for blue smoke out the back during certain instances and report back.

Fill it right to the add line .... and periodically check it every month and see if it changes.

Stop running the car. You are likely going to cause catalyst damage. I would have the car towed to a corvette specialist shop.

Where are you located?

If you are losing/burning oil, have black smoke coming out the back and have the check engine light on, the last thing I would want to do is rev the engine; if there is something wrong internally, doing so could make things a lot worse. If I didn't have the experience to do so myself, I would have it towed to a good shop and have the problem diagnosed. Hope it turns out to be something relatively minor.

manzar ... Just a couple of questions

Is this basically the first car you have owned?

Do you consider yourself 'mechanically inclined' (even slightly). I just ask this because I get the feeling you don't have much previous experience with cars.

Have you ever changed your own oil, or done any basic car maintenence before?
