Default Overheating issue - solved

I thought I would share my experience with everyone in hopes that it will help and possibly save people some $$$.

My car overheated one day and I didnt know why. I checked coolant and hoses, but didnt see any issues. So I took the vette into a local shop and turns out that I ran over a plastic bag and got sucked up on my radiator and restricted air flow which caused the over heating. It was up there quite a ways too (couldnt see it from just looking through the front grill).

My advice is if your vette overheats, pullover and check for a plastic bag covering your radiator. If you dont see anything through your grill get down and put your hand underneath your front bumper and go up the opening in front of the radiator and feel around for a plastic bag or something covering the top portion of your radiator.

Was there any smell that accompanied the overheating? I have seen this happen on other cars and usually there is also the smell of burning plastic that goes along with the overheating.

No I didn't smell anything unusual or anything that smelled like burning plastic.

I did blast my heater to help extract the heat, but since I live in AZ and its 1 million degrees out, I had my windows down and had a lot of outside air coming in so if there was a plastic smell I wouldnt have noticed :/

It's a good idea to stick your hand up there every now and then and check for debris.

When working on my son's c5 (90k miles) we pulled the radiator. Although it looked fine underneath you would not believe the all the dirt, little rocks and leaves that was embedded in the radiator.

Now when I wash my c6 I spray the radiator opposite the airflow.
