Default TPS sensor

Tried searching here on this topic and couldn't locate what I needed. Can the TPS sensors be replaced without removing the tire from the wheel? I just had two new front tires installed and it took 2 guys, a tire machine a stick of dynamite and the jaws of life to get the tires off/on and I'd rather not go thru that experience again.

Yes. The tire just needs to have the bead broken from the rim. Sounds like you need to find another shop to do the work - with the proper tire equipment.

I agree. Had a nice tire alignment machine and I've known the owner for almost 20 years but I'm guessing run flats are a different kind of animal. I would do the sensors myself but since mine need to have that special tool and not just the magnet, I may try my local goodyear.....

I just had new run flats installed a month ago on my BMW. My guy has the "touchless" tire mounter, it took him roughly 15 minutes a wheel to dismount the existing tire and install the new one. With the proper equipment runflats are no more difficult that non-runflats according to him. I suggest looking for a shop that has roadforce equipment. Do you have a Discount Tire near you? They have the right equipment.

As a matter of fact I do. Maybe I'll check with them on the sensor install.

If a tire shop was having problems, go somewhere else. I just changed all 4 tires and 1 new TPMS that went bad, they didn't give me even the slightest problem.

I believe you two are correct....Disappointing for sure. This guy has worked on all my cars for years including the 88 coupe.
