Default siphoning fuel

With Hurricane Irma bearing down. The vette's tank is nearly full. Currently my truck tank is nearly full as well. If necessary and I need to fuel the truck before gas stations are replenished, can fuel be siphoned out of the vette tank? Is this as straight forward as the old days...just feel a hose down through the fill cap? Or are there special tricks? Thanks for any advise!
