Default Electrical issue

The Corvette acted funny this morning. I went out to get something out of it and it acted like the battery was dead. No red light on the door, door won't respond, no response from the fob. So I open the hatch with the key. and pop the door. I get in and no light on the start switch. I pop the hood and start looking around, get back in the seat and now there's a red light on the start switch, but won't turn green. Shut the door and red light on the door now. I try and the door opens now. shut the door and go back and the hatch is dead again. key open the hatch and the alarm goes off...FOB won't turn it off, finally after messing with it I get it to go off and now everything seems normal.

As a side note....about 3am this morning, I was awkened by the "beep" of a horn......I think, "That's the Corvette" and I get up and look out, but I see nothing. I can't help thinking that this episode has something to do with this mornings happenings.

Any ideas?

Bad battery or bad battery connection. Since "wiggling" changes the symptoms I vote for the latter.

Best thing to do is check the battery with a multimeter. Should be at least 13.5 Volts.

while up at the Black Hills Classic last month, the battery shot craps. I had a new battery installed at the Chevrolet dealer in Spearfish...Don't think it's the battery. And as far as wiggling...I never touched anything, just looked. Had someone PM me saying check the FOB battery. I replaced that when I bought the car three years ago.

Once I got the car running it showed 14.3volts.

I can do that when I get home. Right now, I'm in Colorado on a short vacation.

Hmmmm, if it was me I guess I would still have the battery stress tested at Autozone or someplace similar. Other than that I am out of ideas unless something is discharging it. In that case you can connect a hand held ammeter to the battery and watch the cars computer shut down routine. After about four minutes the draw should go from 2 or 3 amps to milli-amps. I learned that lesson after I accidentally left the foot-well lights on and the battery was dead in two days. I had only had the car for three days!

The wiggling was when you opened the door and sat down and closed the door and... Any movement of the car could wiggle a connector just enough that it then sparked and welded itself together - temporarily. The next surge of power could just as easily melt the connection open again. Happens all the time with bad connections and is called an "intermittent".

Chevy dealers are not known for excellence in car service. Again, check the connectors. 14.3 VDC would indicate a fairly well charged battery. But dealers are also not known for selling a lot of batteries. A battery that has been sitting on the shelf self-discharging for 6 months is going to be a very damaged battery even though it is new to you.

And whoever PMed you that the cause was the FOB didn't have a clue about how to diagnose C6 issues. You said in the initial post "No red light on the door." That totally eliminates any issues with the FOB. You can smash the FOB with a hammer and you will still get a red light on the door when you try to open it if everything else is working. The only way you don't get a red light is if the BCM and door management computers either aren't communicating or aren't working.
