I would add fuel stabilizer a few days before putting it away, and get at least 10-20 miles on the car with the stabilizer in the tank.
I have access to ethanol free gas 91 octane. Do you still think I need to add stabilizer?

Yes. Stabilizer has been a great idea for storage for at least 40 years, long before ethanol was added. Unless someone on the forum knows otherwise, I would use it.

I'm with a few others here. See no point in storage. I live in the Northeast and get decent amounts of snow. If there's no snow or salt on the ground the Vette comes out on a cold day.

Put milk and cookies near car in case it gets hungry. Play soft music so it doesn't get lonely. Keep night light on so it doesn't get scared...light colored cars are afraid of the dark.

Geeze....its a car. What do you to winterize your other vehicles? Its not an F16 Tomcat....its a Chevy. It will be ok, I promise.

Any chance you guys could not talk about winter storage until maybe November? You give me chills just reading about it and we're still in the 90's here.

I wouldn't do that. You're better off just leaving it sit for the winter unless you can take it for a drive.

I won't even start my Vette unless I can drive it 7 miles at least. If I'm just running an errand, I'll take it for a run on the highway and then run my errand.

Unfortunately I live 1300 feet above sea level and any dampness, rain or drizzle will turn to ice. My local roads are constantly salted. A snow fall of
an inch 2 miles away is 18 inches of snow on my street. The snow doesn't melt until late march because of the cold. I will not take my Corvette out for errands under these extreme conditions. This is why I have asked for suggestions about putting my Vette in storage.

dmk0210's response was directed to Adam Cifonelli, not you. This happens a lot on forums in general, so don't take it personal. Although, I agree that starting a car during storage without driving it, is a bad idea.

I stored mine outside with a car cover. I live in Michigan. No carpet, no battery tender. All I did was get a fresh oil change, and stopped driving it. I drove it probably 3-4 times that whole time between december and april. I took it to the dealer to be inspected, no issues, cracks, drying, etc. Tires were fine, took it to Belle tire to double inspect tires. They were good.

you don't need to freak out and over do it. I was worried about the battery though, I'll probably get a tender this year, I think I got lucky.

I always found several days a month to drive mine in the winter in the NE. As long as there is no wet salt on the roads there is no issue. Even with summer performance tires.

Now that I'm on the south west i question why I ever lived in NY.

Yep...Simply starting the car every week is of little benefit. It does not run long enough to charge the battery, nor to burn off condensation that forms from the heating/cooling cycle. If that is all that is going to be done, there needs to be a stabilizer in the system.,in my opinion. Others may not agree, and that is fine.

Loosen antifreeze cap lube Oring with dialectic greese. Oil change per manual or once a year whatever comes first. Cover but make sure it's clean!!!

As Must_Have_Z mentioned in his list (#7), you probably want to put some desiccant packets in your car if there is moisture and condensation. This will keep your car from getting that musty mildew smell that is hard to get rid of. You can buy these or make them yourself.

So i'm not a conformist. Contrary to some opinions, the laws of physics seem to dictate that any tire that has a contact patch of what....maybe not even a square foot and carrying a load approx. 1,100 #'s and not being rotated will create a flat spot, with the diff being that they don't spot as bad these days and in most cases they will bounce back with little effort. So I do the wrong thing and back it out of the driveway every 3-4 weeks. Also in order to get it out of the garage I have to start it. This means letting it run without driving it. I'll let it run for at least 20 - 30 minutes so it gets a good warm up. I'll give the motor a couple a good revs and then pull her back in the garage. Been doing this now for over 40 years on all my hobby cars i've owned and never had an associated tire problem, or the infamous condensation problem. I dunno.....maybe i'm just lucky....

How many months do new cars sit on dealer lots without being moved or started?

Me too. And really, my only reason to avoid salt is I don't want to wash the car.

I don't think this guy washed his lately either.

I wasn't the only Vette needing a wash job.

Lol...You will NOT get flat spots on your tires from sitting for the winter months, I store my car from November till the end of March & NEVER had "flat spots". Do use a battery maintainer & do use Stabil in the fuel tank, bad gas is a real issue nowadays

If yes, where do I locate the stands under car?
I have 2 roofs. Do I store it with glass or solid roof installed. Does it make a difference?
Since the garage is located inside my house, it will be protected to 40 degrees on those extremely cold nights.
I will get a cover for it.
Am I missing anything?
Being new to late model Corvettes, I would only add to run the car long enough, and hard enough to ensure the oil is fully up to temperature.

For other vehicles I've stored I put pieces of carpet under the tires, but that was to keep the tires from marking the surface they were parked on (other carpet, paint, etc).
