Random question. Does anyone know if the OEM shocks have a manufactured date on them anywhere?

My shocks "feel" fine but I am not exactly sure how old they may be. A date could give me an idea of what the mileage is on these things.

If they are the original OEM, your odometer will tell you the mileage on them; if they are replacements, you would need to know the installation date to determine this. Don't know if they have a date stamped on them, but if they do it would be almost useless in determining how many miles are on them as you would have no idea how long they sat on a shelf before being installed.

Whoa, when I first read this thread title I thought it was going to have something to do with the shock of getting old.

Yep, I always use to say, Man this getting old sucks! But then a very dear old departed friend old mine would always come back with, yeah but it beats the alternative. And I guess I'd have to say he made a real good point.

I have 2005, and last week had 4 wheel alignment at the dealership, car has 62,000 miles, and I ask the tech, he said everything is fine.
You know they work flat rate, so If I needed them I would get the pitch from service writer.

I think the question is ...

"Is there a number (date code) stamped or stickered on shocks?

For example, buying a set of shocks off e-bay or at a wrecker, one could deduce at least what year they were produced.

I don't know the answer to the question...yet good luck in your research.
