Default Zero.zero compression cy 1 options?

Got code of p0300, then later p0351- from memory, then p0301, then back to p0300, over 3 days. (I was trying to troubleshoot with it parked and no tools over a weekend), got it to the mechanic, no compression cylinder 1.

Over 175k on c6 2007 manual ls2.

Decision time:
-rebuild engine (unknown damage until I do surgery)

-replace engine (i have a tentative buyer of dead engine)

What i don’t have knowledge of is: what other engine than the ls2 engine i can replace it with, without complicated mod’s...Will the manual tran match up with any of these, mechanically and/or power compatibility...
What is the market like for rebuilt engines, or dead engines.

So I can keep it and mod the hell out of it, depending on my options, or fix it and sell, then buy c7...

Any thoughts and comments welcomed.

If it is just a smoked ring and the cylinder walls are still intact where you can get away with a hone, I would just rebuild it for boost. Forged pistons, crank should be ok, blower cam, a supercharger kit and be on your merry way.

If the motor is toast, do the above, but to another usable short block.

LS7 - too much $ for stock power
LS9 - too much $ for a stock roots-blown engine
LT1/LT4 - too much $ to change/program computers for stock power

I believe the bolt pattern for the trannies are all the same on LSs, unsure of the LTs.

My 2 cents.

Went through similar with my brother's Trans Am. Stock LS1 blew, now it's a 383 stroker with some torque.

There are plenty LS motors available complete with a wiring harness and a matching computer. Either used or remanufactured with a warranty will work. A crate motor that comes with a warranty is often cheaper than to rebuild one yourself. The LT's are good motors, but it's up to you if you want to deal with the added maintenance direct injection causes.
