Default C6 Engine Bay Light

Does anyone know if the engine bay light in a 2006 C6 Coupe can be turned on and off? I would like to leave the hood open at local shows but have not fingered out how to turn light off without pulling the bulb.

If you don't do anything, open a door, etc , it will time out and shut off after approx 10 minutes. If you leave the car in ACC, or do anything to the car, the light will come back on.
It's best just to unplug the connector by the passenger side of the radiator.

You could also solder splice in an inline shut off switch in the wiring just before the connector as well.

Or, pull one round plug near light holding hood insulation on and reach in behind it and disconnect it there, easier than reaching down near radiator. I disconnected mine at the light and put the plug back in cause I always got my hood open for one reason or another. Easy.

I removed the bulb years ago just for that reason. I never needed it anyway.

Thanks so much for the info. I’ll give the time out a try. I also see the plug. Thanks again.

Switch is also a good option. Will look for optimum location and consider. Thank you.

Thanks for the suggestion. Definitely a good option considering the light does very little.

Mid America or Corvette Central sells a wiring harness that plugs into the existing harness and has a rocker switch that allows you to turn the light on and off. No cutting into the stock harness is required. It's a simple plug and play installation.

Tom, thanks for the info. I checked the web sites and found the harness with switch. Another option to consider.

Thanks again for the tip.

If you leave it alone it will time out. If you open the door or trunk it will start all over again. I found it best to unplug it. If you follow the wire dowm you will come to a connection. Thats where you unplug it. I just leave it unplugged its useless anyway

I put an inline rocker switch in mine… I can turn it on or off when I think I need it… Though you can get better/ more direct lighting from one of the little pocket LED flashlights that they sell at most car/ hardware stores for less than ten bucks. I recently bought these in a 3 pack at a local Menard's for $8.99
