C6 Oil Change
Do you think the GM engineers really tried to make oil changes so easy in a C6, or is it just a coincidence that the drain plug and filter are so accessible? I wish all of my vehicles were this easy to change oil.

My 56 Chevy with a straight 6 235 CI ---I never changed the oil. I added a quart every 500 miles. so it was by far the easiest.!! SO - every 3000 miles it got a oil change as I drove it..

My Subaru Outback has the oil filter on top of the engine. Why doesn't everybody do this?

Sounds like a surgeon friend of my mine who only took his Lexus in for an oil change when the "check engine" light came on. Claims he got almost 27,000 miles between oil changes, once. OBD

The Chevy HHR and GMC 4cyl Terrain has the oil filter on top, easy to replace. These were my everyday drivers.

I've never jacked up my Corvette to change the oil...neither my C4 or my C6...there's no need to.
There's no need to get under the car at all, so your size doesn't matter either.
You can lay on your back and easily reach the drain plug with a wrench. Same thing with the oil filter. All you need is a low profile drain pan for the old oil.

Most people are going to need to put the front of the car up on ramps or a jack, Looks like a tough job to me with the car just sitting on the ground

Yes they may be easy to work on in some respects....but what makes mine hard to work on, (as anyone who wants to protect their ride) is the fact that such care needs to be taken when working on it. Cover this.....cover that....be careful around that piece.....don't scratch that part....etc....etc. The list goes on......
