Default What tires are you running?

Hey guys, I'm thinking of getting new tires for next yr, I've got a C6 z51 w cam, headers, intake & exhaust...putting just around 400 to the rear wheels...I spin in 2nd and even 3rd sometimes in the summer...there's lots of tread on my tires I just think they're the wrong compound/tire for the vette.

Lookin for recommendations for a tire that will serve me with what power the car has...no plans for further upgrades power wise...
looking for a balance between price and the best tire...not in a position to spend $300 per tire or anything...

thanks in advance

Based on your location, I would be looking at Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+ ZP - But the rears will be >$300

Nitto Invo's non-RF.....great traction; less road noise.

Continental Extreme Contact is a good choice, or if you want to keep run-flats the Bridgestone Driveguards are good. Both are all season.

I will start my opinion by saying anything other than OEM GYs are a step in the right direction. They don't call them RunCraps for no reason! One of which is that they are summer only tires. Another is that they are old tech, and have been for years.

That said, I would think you would want to go to an A/S tire, given your location. Michelin makes more than a few A/S tires which will more than likely fill your bill. They make both RF and nonRF tires.

Do you travel? When do you travel? Do you ever track?

I'm currently running Bridgestone AS RFs on the front (because my preferred tire was temporarily discontinued). They seem to be OK.

My preferred tire for all around use is Micheline pilot sport plus A/S ZP, which is what I have on the rears.

Running Michelin Pilot Sport ZPs. But they are pretty pricey. Stay away from all season tires if you are already searching for traction. I have no experience with the Nittos, but in your price range they might be a decent alternative.

I am about 390 rwhp and went with Hankook ventus evo 2’s in stock size for my 06 coupe and wished I would have spent and got the new continentals or the michelin ps4. They are inconsistent for acceleration,
sometimes they hold first other times they break loose from a roll in 2nd...the other day on wet roads they broke loose bad on hard 2-3 shift...traction control saved me from a guardrail at 80mph+. Laterally they are consistently crap. Any disturbance will cause back end to kick out (small bump, adding any throttle before car is perfectly straight)...
I was expecting more from a max perf summer tire, even though it wasnt the top of the line max perf summer tires (michelin and conti).

I have the Nitto Invos on my 2011 Grand Sport (basically stock other than a Corsa catback) and even though I like them for their ride (Quiet and smooth) the traction has a lot to be desired. I don't think I would recommend them for your application.

Currently running Nitto 555 G2's (non-R compound).

They did very well at the track the other night. Very minimal spinning.

I can't remember what I paid for them but they were somewhere in the $200 neighborhood.

Firestone Firehawk Wide Oval Run-Flats. Not cheap but long lasting and quiet. Good sticking power. I've used them on all my cars that take them.

What do you consider long-lasting?
