Guys, I am looking to buy an Out of State C6. I probably won't be able to see it in person, the transaction would be mainly done online, and have the car shipped. It looks good in the pix, but need some help if someone can run a Carfax / or Autocheck report on this.
From the pictures it is a nice looking car. IMHO, I think it should be priced closer to $20k, but that's just me.
When I purchased my last 3 vettes out of the area I relied on Carfax, autocheck, and the VIS (take the vin to any GM dealer service dept and ask them to run the free VIS & build sheet which will tell all work done at a GM dealer). I compared info for a more informed decision.
However, nothing beats a personal inspection, either by you, a local vette-nut, or a hired inspection service.
My wife's Miata had a perfectly clean CarFax. After owning it for about a year or so I've found it has been in at least 2 unreported accidents (replaced panels and repainted areas). So I take CarFax with a grain of salt.
Also if you want it so bad go and pay for it. You want to spend $25k on a car but not a few bucks to make sure it's worth it?
look at it this way. What if the carfax is clean and the car is all wrecked up and you spent time jacking around with it, OR what if the carfax shows 3 accidents and an reputable inspector looks at the car and reports back that its in the top 1% of vehicles he has ever looked at. CARFAX????
