Looking for advice on tire selection? I have a c6z with either 20x12.5 or 20x13, paperwork says both. I am currently running 345 25r20 invo's but do not like the traction they give me. I do not track the car just looking to hook in a straight line. A more intense tire I have found is the toyo r888 but they only come in 315 30r20, will that even fit on my wheel, and don't really want to loose the width. I know the selection for 20's is a lot more limited, what have other people have success with?
I am currently running Michelin and, IMO, are very good tires and well worth the money; the ride is good, the hold the road well and the tread life is good. That being said, I started running Nitto tires on my Camaro over a year ago and they are a good tire as well; provide a nice ride, handle well even in the rain and the tread life seems to be as good, if not better, then the Michelins. I am seriously considering going with them on the Corvette the next time I need tires
You can go to the Nitto or M/T web site and they recommend what size tire to run with your rim width. And take it from a long time drag racer if you don't match the tire to the rim width 9 times out of 10 you are not gonna be happy with the tire. I run NittoR5 Drag Radials on mine and it corners better than it did with the Good-Years. I choose the Nitto over the M/T because the Tech @ M/T said there tires would not work with a manual trans & Nitto said there's would.PS I had company and had to stop. M/T now has a bias ply tire for manuals but that would mean changing the front tires to bias ply and it is a street car and bias ply tires would kill the ride and handling. I wish I could find someone close that had M/T just to switch tires to see which one is best. There is a chance M/T tires could be better than the Nitto even if they are not for a manual trans. Vette. I do not drive mine in the rain but have a friend with a 2016 Camaro that drives his daily and says driving the speed limit in the rain is no problem with them, but he use's his head and slows down if there is water standing in the road. Bottom line we need some Pro Street style drag radials in 19" & 20" rim size and have talk to the top tire makers and they say they don't know if they will offer them in the future or not.

Never heard that you can't run MT's with a Stick car , what was the reason they gave ?
Plenty of guys at my track did not get the message either as they are all running MT's including my buddy who pops off 11.3 runs in his stick car ...

If you were wanting an all around summer rain cold and a bit of drag with longevity go 4s tires alone ran $1,600.00 but their quiet and a soft ride smooth and hug the he'll out of the road I mean if all I did was drag the car yea I'd be on mt hands down ... depends on you're needs bro .. me I swap my drags ... and I'm not a rich guy so I don't burn rubber on my 4s

That's what the Tech @ M/T told me.He said there tires would not work with a manual trans car. M/T has just come out with some tires for manual trans cars but they are bias ply.And a bias ply tire with radials on front won't handle to good and bias ply tires all around will handle worse. You can call them yourself and they will tell you the same thing. I have NittioNT05 as most others around here. I wish someone lived near that run M/T tires so we could switch tires just to see if M/T work better than the Nitto tires. We all need to call M/T,Hoosier and Goodyear asking for some better tires. If M/T & Hoosier would make some Pro Drag Radials like they do in there 15" tires in a 19" & 20" rim size they would be much better. We all know we need better tires but if no one calls them they don't know that and for some reason think if they build them they won't sell. The Hell-Cats & Mustang guys all need them to. My car will run faster than 11;30 with the Nitto's but a Pro Drag Radial or even better for those of us who don't daily drive our Vettes some Drag Radial Slicks.

Why not run the MT street drag radials , they are available in many different sizes and are the same R Compound as the Nittos that you are running ... they stick like Glue !!

20's are your biggest problem along with wanting wide tires. Wide is good for cornering, but narrow puts more rubber on the ground in the direction you need it. Tall wheels don't allow tall sidewalls, which also limits rubber on the ground during a launch.
I'm not saying which brand is best for where and how much you drive, but if you're wanting tires for straight line traction, the size is more important than the brand.
Go with 17 x 9.5 wheels and 275/40 R17's at 26-28 psi on a soft compound tire around town. Put your 20's on for road trips or car shows.

If you would have paid attention to what I said you would see what I said "The Tech.@ M/T said there Drag Radial Would Not Work With A Manual Trans."! Call the Tech. @ M/T they will tell you the same thing! It is always best to call the Tech. at what ever brand tire you are thinking about running and talk to them and see what they recommend before buying.
