TPMS - anybody else experience this?
The other day I left my car out overnight in the cold (it was sub-freezing) - in the morning when I started the car and I flipped through the readings on the DIC all four tires displayed a tire pressure of zero.
The car did not give me a warning on the dash when you have low tire pressure which is very odd. Once I drove for a few minutes all the readings updated and I have not seen this again since then (the car has been in sub-freezing temps since then but not overnight)
I was wondering if anybody else has experienced this because I haven't in 11 years of ownership?

Thanks for all the replies - what baffles me is why the car did not give the low tire pressure warning - it is not that the readings were XX, it said zero for each tire.
At any rate, happened only once to me and not something to really worry about, I was more curious than anything else.
I will probably getting some new monitors at my next tire change in Spring, still on originals in all four corners!

Yes,batteries don't like cold. And PV=nRT will also cause some pressure loss, but wouldn't go to ZERO! Hopefully everything returns to normal when the weather warms... But life of TPMS batteries is maybe 10 years, so expect millions of warning lights and repairs (and forum posts) as these batteries get weaker...

Many years ago (maybe a decade?), I had this, but all four displayed "--" and then updated and showed real tire pressures. It only happened once IIRC.

Not sure how an inexperienced driver creates a problem for his tires in colder weather. I would think it might be the characteristics of the tires he is using that might create the problem for the tires. Seems a lot of experts agree.. and in this case the tires are reacting to the cold weather, not the driver...same as the TPS'm do in some cases......In any event, to each his own.
