My C6 Needs to be Louder (suggestions)
Hello everyone, I recently bought a 2005 C6 Corvette. Equipped with to what I believe is just an axle back Magna-flow system, is just to quite for my taste. Was hoping you guys had some suggestions on what route I should take, weather it be a Cat delete, X-pipe,.... ECT. Since buying the car I was hoping to spend anywhere from $200-300, so headers are out of the decision.
If I were to take it to a muffler shop, from my understanding if you take off the Cats which are right after the headers you throw a code to which you either need a tuner to take care of it, or by getting an O2 simulator which dont seem to be that popular. I live in FL and emissions are not an issue.
If you guys have any other suggestions, let me know. Thanks

Go to different manufacturer websites and compare sounds. Find one you like and buy it. Me, I just put a mild to wild switch on it, and never turn it off. Plenty loud enough for me. I had B&B PRT's on my last Vette. That was the next to loudest they sold then. And they were loud.

i bought bullets on my 06 and the drone was unbearable.they were loud and nice but the vibrations from drone was a bit too much.
sold that with 20 miles on them and got billy boat prt s instead. very happy with prts.
also corsa sports sounds nice but more expensive

My set up is not within your budget, but here goes anyway... Kooks headers & catted X pipe, Corsa Sport axle back mufflers, I love the sound & this is the way that a Corvette should sound. My sugestion to you is to save up some money & purchase a quality system, don't buy some cheap rice burner garbage

There are always used exhaust components for sale here on the Forum. Used parts are much less than new if you are on a budget. It also makes a difference in the sound and drone if the car is a standard or an automatic, convertible or coupe. Usually you will find the Corsa's have the least drone if that is an issue for you. Try to ride in a Corvette with the system you are looking at if possible.

As others have said, your budget won't work for a vette. Your best bet is to just unbolt the exhaust at the over axle pipes, that will be really loud and in your budget.
Good luck with vette ownership, better start saving as EVERYTHING costs 4x what you think it will if you base it on other cars.
Also, cats don't make the car a lot quieter. Removing them won't make it much louder, nor will it improve performance. Leave them alone unless they'e busted.

I remember Click and Clack (The Tappet Brothers), getting the same question, and they suggested using a large nail and hammer on the mufflers.

Keep the cats. Emissions always matter, even in Florida.
You should try just a straight pipe out the back of the car. It is a cheap option and you could always revert back if you don't like it. Some people love it, if they want a loud car.
