I came across headers and X pipe for sale several hours away from home BUT I was hoping someone on here could identify the brand at a glance since the seller cannot.
I am simply trying to not buy something that is going to give me headaches after the install like so many lower priced headers have done to me in the past. I searched the for sale section and flea bay thinking I would see the setup so I could do my research before leaving the comfort of my home.
It is 15 and snowing at the moment in Middle Tn and if the knowledge of my fellow forum friends tell me they are junk and will leak (like so many sets in the past) then I will walk away from the deal and simply install my GS NPP cat back system on the car. I want to thank everyone in advance for taking the time to take a look and helping me make a educated decision on the purchase. I cant afford 1000+ for the systems for sale on here at the time and understand you get what you pay for in this world. GG in TN

Thanks, I will ask the seller again to find some info on them before taking a day to travel and find out I dont want them. These were on a car at my buddies lot and his customer wanted the factory setup on the car before buying it so its not a performance shop selling them.
He did tell me they came off a 2005 and my car is a 2005 6 speed Vert. I did notice the collectors are not like most I have looked at with the clamp on style instead of the bolt on style.
They look like TSP headers and X-pipe. Have him check the drivers side header to see if its scraped or dented at the bottom as TSP headers hang pretty low.
Both headers leaked where they hook up to the x-pipe, you can tell by the black soot on the headers. I'll bet you would have the same problem.
They don't look high quality. JMO

Agreed. I would just save up until spring and get a new set when you can that goes together.
Seller is telling me they have NO markings on the headers and when i asked the size of the X pipe he told me it was 2.5" where the TSP units are saying they are 3" making me think they are not TSP. I have a complete 2013 GS exhaust that i was going to replace my system with from cat back since the manifolds are the same but nothing else. This came off a car with only 25k miles and would get fresh cats on the car and get the CEL light off. With the NPP system it really is all I need or want. Not to mention this is a bone stock car and most likely will only get a few bolt on mods.
BUT . . .this has been my DD since Feb and i have logged over 20K miles in her so now I am working her into my Fun car, weekends and sunny days or packing a bag or two and running off to the houseboat for a weekend or up to Bowling Green for a cruise in.
We are one of the last places in my state that does not have emissions so I can get away with running cat less. I am paying 200.00 for the complete system and will pay less to have it installed. If I ever sell (never) or get tired of the smell or sound then I have the GS system waiting, no harm done. Like I mentioned, if it was 1200.00 then I would have 2nd thoughts. A fool and his money. . Yeah, that's me. I am always looking for something to make my truck or car a little cooler or faster. I just picked up a Z06 rear spoiler yesterday for 25.00 bucks that should be here any day. My brother asked me why and my reply with a smile was .. Why NoT !
Thanks for the help , not only with this but for everything this forum and my friends have helped me with over the years, it really is one of the reason I love these cars so much. You cant go wrong when you have the input of 1000's of corvette owners.
What year of a car did they come off of? With some of these used systems and some people not knowing much or all of the details you may get a set that may not line up with your axle back. Just remember 05-08 mid-pipe line up with those years exhaust and 09-13 mid-pipe line up with those years exhaust. If you get a mid-pipe from 05-08 car or pipes your existing 13 exhaust would have to be fabbed up.
Or so the seller tells me. He took them off a Vette he sold because the customer wanted it back to stock. Tells me the car he sold never had the CEL on but I am sure the previous owner had the back sensors turned off on the car, just like I will. I know some can tell by the bend of the X pipe if it is correct for my car which is why I asked help with this. Honestly, at 200 bucks, I just cant pass on them regardless. Headers and a tune on my C5 was like night and day and i was getting 32 MPG on the highway, when I behaved. If I have to I will have them welded instead of using the clamps. The car has NO exhaust note now and a year of that is enough! I will update this as the year goes along, it will be funny if I end up eating my words.
I have always believed that you get what you pay for. Spend the money and buy a set of ARH, Kooks, etc. You will get a set of quality headers that won't leak, will bolt up correctly without any fitment issues, etc.
Maybe the ether has wore off, I can bolt on my complete 2013 GS exhaust from cat back and not have to change the manifolds, have fresh cats so my CEL goes off and have the NPP system which is more than enough. It would pass emissions and have a Bold exhaust note with a touch of a button. (M2W) Retro Fitted on my 05.
With only bolt on mods being planned for this car I have to asked if the added power would be worth the added PITA I can only assume will come with having headers with the slip joints. The 200 bucks is not much out of pocket but it is hard to beat the 2013 GS OEM system for performance , fit and sound on a stock motor.
I have flashbacks of my 1980 Vette sporting a Magnacharger and side draft delorto carbs and cheap "white " headers giving me fits as I discovered leak after leak. It was a nightmare I dont want to relive in 2018. Reality Sucks ! If they had been K00K'S , that's another story.

Bump. The headers and x pipe are on CL Huntsville ALA for 220.00 if anyone is interested. Talk to Frank, I decided to pass and simply go with the "like New" GS NPP cat back exhaust I still have in the garage. It will be plenty of fun and zero headaches. Thanks for the input, you guys rock!
