Default M2W remote question

I just purchased a C6 that has a M2W in a box installed. I didn't get the remote. Does anyone know if I get another M2W remote, will it work on mine? Will your remote work on mine or are they matched to the unit?
Any help would be appreciated.

Matched to unit. Should be numbers on the box. Then Search.

The M2W remote that I bought from a forum vendor for an existing M2W installed at the factory just needed me to follow the remote install instructions in the passenger side fuse box.

Is that different than the M2W under discussion?

OP doesn't have a remote. I do not believe that the factory ever installed a M to W switch. Just the OEM 3500 RPM way that it opens up.

My C6 wasn't equipped with the M2W. It appears the "M2W in a box" was installed after the fact. I just purchased the car 3 days ago. I never got the remote and the dealership says they don't have it. My goal is to find one to use for programming to the HOMELINK.

There may just be a wired switch for it or some could be programmed through the garage door remote in the visor. Or it could have been like my ‘05, I installed the Z06 mufflers but never installed a M2W kit because I liked it open all the time anyway...

That's what mine was. As I indicated above, I bought a generic remote for it and programmed it by connecting it properly to the fuse box. That's what I thought the OP wanted to do until he added the post about programming it to his HOMELINK.

The exact same remotes are available on Amazon - don't know for sure about matching. You can purchase the remotes and fuse tap on Amazon for about $25 and you have the exact same M2W you buy online as a kit for about 4x the price. Trust me - i bought the items and they are exactly the same as came in the packaged kit. If not mistaken, there is a video about this on You Tube.

I say, just throw the remote away and install a “old school” mild 2 wild foot switch. Open/close the exhaust at will, no fumbling around with a remote.

Skip the remote and put in a switch.

Totally agree with you! I hated fumbling around for the remote and listening to it bang around in the cup holder on every turn. Is it on, Is it Off? Are the batteries bad?
