I'm having issue with 05 CD player. Pulled fuse for 30 min. Replaced and player worked fine for Collective Soul CD then I changed to Warrant CD and back to same issue (no disc found). So now I'll leave fuse out over night and try again.

Any other ideas??
Laser disc lens may be dirty (top surface of the top lens) or could be dust in the lower laser prism section instead.
So using something like can air, some times if the problem is the just the top surface of the top lens, you can get the dust off/ou,t so the laser works correctly. Other times, its the lower prism that is dirty, so you have to pull the radio apart, the disc player out of the radio, pull the laser cover plate, and get down into the lower section of the laser to cleans those lens instead.
I have '05 and have same problem. I have tried compressed air and cleaning disc but no luck. I pulled fuse once for a few minutes, still no luck. Not worth it at this point for me to tear into dash so going to leave it alone for now. Most will say once this happens you will have to replace the head unit with aftermarket, I don't want to do that.

Agree I like mine too... Nav display to hud and that cool logo when not in use. Not a really big music fan while driving but still needs to work correctly.
I also tried can of air and a cleaner disc but no dice. Might pull out one day but not at this time.
other than not listening to CD's. Who does that now days? Go digital. just kidding.
If you can't fix it, get a aftermarket head unit that plays mp3, or blue tooth so you can stream from a smart phone. Could get that back up camera while you're at it.
The top cover of the Nav unit can be removed to access the laser lens for a manual cleaning. The lower prism may be a bit harder to access and manually clean.
With the top cover off, you can manually slide the CD table to expose the laser lens to manually clean with alcohol. Once cleaned move the table back to the park position, button it up, install power up and hope!
Not saying that that will work, but it may solve your issue.

Being I've got to pull unit to clean lasers I'ma gonna add a NAV-3 HARNESS built by http://www.kawal.net/navigation.htm#Alternative%204:
That way I can stream stored music and i- heart radio.
I may be crazy but just really hung up on the stock nav/radio unit. Mostly bc of the cool Corvette logo displayed on the units screen.
Being that the C5 has no Corvette statistics plate in the center console like the C3.
To each there own JMHO

I'm in the same boat as you. I actually like and can operate the Nav unit very efficiently since I've used it since 2009. I've come up with all kinds of shortcuts and ways to make using the Nav much easier than going by the manual, and using waypoints etc. Using Memory points is the way to go on any trip that can be planned ahead of time.
I've also added the Aux 3 harness to my unit, and it works great. The harness includes the speed bypass for the Nav, but I tend not to use that very much. Most of my trips are pre planned, so I already have all my hotels, restaurants, and other interest places, etc. inputted in Memory Points for the places we will be visiting.
Although aftermarket units can also use the C6 Logo, I'm struck on the OEM unit.
Don't know if anyone is interested but I have an 05 6 CD HU - non Nav, that I was going to recycle...If anyone wants it, just pay for shipping and it is yours. PM Me
