guys, I have located a very nice C6 in the Mid-south area of the country. It has a spotless car fax, autocheck, and national collision report, all excellent. Just about everything is as good as it can be.....except,
the seller tells me there is a 1" long grasshopper inside the headlight!! Said 'hopper has expired, naturally, but I am curious if there is a small opening somewhere in the headlight area that a small critter could get into, and not find a way out. Or, is this a sign that the headlight/lens has surely been replaced at some point?
The seller and I both were laughing about it, but it does cause a bit of concern. I believe the car to be as nice as it looks, and is stated to be, but still wonder about how that grasshopper cold get in there.

Jim, it may be possible that one of the rubber boots covering the bulbs came loose or popped off, and it got in that way................... you may be able to remove it using compressed air, or possibly a vacuum of some type going through that same opening....
worse case would be to remove the headlight and then the grasshopper............
headlight removal can be done without removing front fascia and if you need directions, they can be found here on the forum, or send me a PM if you get this car and I will send them to you...............
good luck in your search for the perfect C6 to replace your old one.................

Gotcha, and thanks for the helpful reply. I wasn't sure how it could get in there, and did not even think about the bulb opening.
Haven't had my headlight assembly apart but if a bulb socket leaves you an opening I wonder if you could use a claw pick up tool to reach in and grab it?

Most likely one of the bulb covers is off. You can take off the small inspection flap and see. I had a wasp in mine and one of the covers was off. I tried everything I could think of and was unable to get it out. Compressed air pushed it down in the front gap for a little bit but that also blew a lot of dust out of all the crevices. Since the car is White, it didn't look to good. Drove my OCD crazy. I traded the car in with the wasp in there. I didn't feel like taking the light out and apart.

I had a fly in the headlight of my z51 and after I brought my ZO6 home I discovered, you guessed it, a fly in one of the headlights too. must be a common issue for some of us lol

I know a Z51 that swallowed a fly.
I don't know why it swallowed a fly.
I had a small moth in mine when I bought it. I used cardboard and duct tape to attach my shop vac hose down to a small coffee stir stick/straw. Jammed the little straw into what I think was a vent hole in the back of the light and sucked it out with the shop vac.
Thanks to our own RL Sebring for the idea.

Jim
Jim,
I bought new headlight assemblies from an on-line GM parts house for less than half of what the dealer was asking. When I checked them out in the bright sun(installed on the car) I saw a little gnat inside the drivers side head light. I drove on home trying to figure what I'd do but when I arrived home it was no longer visible. It must have slid onto the black area next to the lens when I applied the brakes.
