to those that commented on my lemon law post thank you...
I weighed the pros and cons then bought the car. Drove it home and the weather turned horrible. After a few quick rides around the neighborhood with a neighbor and my daughter in the garage it stayed.
Until Friday... the weather was slightly warmer, rain had washed away the salt, so I took the afternoon off and went for a drive. My biggest question is why did I wait so long to buy a Corvette? What a blast. So much fun I couldn’t stop. Went out on interstate then hit some twisty Kentucky highways...I need a lot more stick time no doubt but this was a fun start.
What do y’all do with people that want to race you? I was like, really? Leave me alone, let me drive...lol
Anyone that questions why I bought this car needs to drive it...once you drive one on a nice stretch of blacktop you will be hooked.
I spent all all day yesterday cleaning it up in the garage. Next up, clay bar, polishing and waxing...can’t forget the interior and engine bay...but one thing at a time. Forecast rain for next several days so have to do something...
Glad you are loving it. I bought a Ford lemon law car years ago and we never had any trouble with it. Sometimes you wonder if the original owner's "real" trouble was paying the car note!!

As a mechanic I've always found it amusing reading some of the complaints that people have logged regarding vehicles written up in Consumers Reports. Some of the complaints I read caused me to think WTF! Are you serious?
Some of the best cars I have ever owned as far as their dependability goes had a bad write up in Consumers Magazines.
I had the same thoughts after buying my 'vette, coming up on a year and still loving it, maybe even more.
As far as the car you bought, you did the right thing. Do a little research, ask others, think it over and then make your own decision. When I was looking I found a '08 in my price range but it was ROUGH when I looked at it. I had a VIS report pulled and it had been in for clutch work many times. It was obvious the owner could not drive a stick and did not know how to take care of a car, make my decision easy. The car was a 1 owner and I later found out it was a local dentist, he had plenty of cash but no mechanical ability, lol.
regarding the race "opponents" in the next lane... I just smile and if they are laughing a little, I laugh a little.
have had my vette for a year and have never been challenged (is that the word?) by anything close to my vette----it's usually a civic with an airplane wing, a camry with extra rad hubcaps, and once a suburban with luggage strapped to the roof (seriously). i'm not sure what they're doing, some appear serious and others are just goofing around.
if i look over i smile or laugh but generally i ignore the ford focus with the engine revving ... mostly because they're hard to hear over my own exhaust.
long answer short, i do nothing, just continue to enjoy the ride.
Now and I then I will go, but if the car is something less than a Vette, I just kind of laugh; that gets many pissed! Now if it is some expensive car that you know you can beat, that is just fun. I spanked a new BMW Z3 once with my LT4 C4 a few years back. The guy thinks he has something so we go, and it was almost silly. I then say to him "I bet you're glad you spent $75k and got beat by a $14k Corvette!". He wasnt amused. The only other one I did and broke my rule was some guy in a silly *** Suburu WR4. He pulls up next to me at a light and is revving. I laugh. Next light again and my gf goats me so........we were dead even through 2nd, I hit 3rd and waved by...and that was in the LT4, not a C6. I told my friend who is a lawyer the story and he about clocked me. He told me judges hate drag racing worse than drunk driving and told me if I ever do get pulled over to deny any racing; tell him the other guy kept at it; you wanted nothing to do with it. What I do now is like I said. It seems Mustang drivers tend to have small ***** syndrome around Vettes; they always like to pull up and rev, I just laugh; gets em madder. There is a guy in our area in a black Challenger with license plates VITO, and EVERY time he pulls up next to me has to rev it. It doesn't appear to be a big Hemi car either, but I think it frustrates him more to not race!
All in all you will get used to it; it seems like mostly from cars that are less!

Do your self a favor and try one of these, beats clay by a mile and so easy, plus if you drop it or you think its dirty just rinse it off with cold water. I don't use clay anymore at all

Yep....Consumers Report is a joke. Many years ago when VCR's and all that video stuff was hot we would research some and Consumers would test models from different retailers that were the exact same unit only with different names on the front....Sanyo - Fisher..etc. Consumers would rate one much better than the other......

Thanks...I’ll give that a try...my clay is old anyway (not used, just old but pliable)

You dont have to RUB as with clay, in fact you shouldn't, follow the instructions with a detail spray as a lube and its so easy I love their products

Ill be the honest one here. I fulfill there wish of being embarrassed in front of passengers. No need to lie it's a Vette. [/QUOTE]
I have more of a problem with people wanting me to do a burnout. I reply no thanks, I don't want to destroy my nearly new rear tires that would cost nearly a grand to replace and then have to clean all the molten and shredded rubber bits off my back fenders.
