How to attach front license plate bracket
Do not want to loose my bracket. It is going on the front of a C6. Bracket comes with sticky pads. Is it detrimental to drill holes into car for mounting or just an aesthetic thing people get so excited about?
I know, clean with mineral spirits, be above 60 degrees, press for 5 min or more. Going to make blocks of wood to make constant pressure for an extended period of time. Will this work 99.9% of the time or do I want to add a couple of 1/2 inch bolts to hold it on?

There are retractable plate brackets that many members here use for car shows. They attach to the underside of the bumper. Use the search feature here on the Forum to find posts on the subject. Many of our Forum vendors also have them available. Check out one of the retractable first.

The sticky pads will hold it on. Definitely do not drill holes in the front.
There are several other options if you choose not to put it directly on the bumper nose.

One of the members of the local vette club had the GM bracket attached to his car using the sticky pads, and he said that it was a PITA to get it off. It certainly wasn't going to fall off on its own. But, IMHO, the GM bracket ruins the look of the front end. I was going to use one of the brackets that fits between the splitter and the bumper and uses the existing screws, but I've decided to go with one of the ones that is removable, and where the mount sticks on to the underside of the top of the bumper opening. I've got it, but need to wait until things warm up in order to attach the mount.
Just so you can see what happens when you use the screws:
Don't do this!

This is what you want. It mounts using double sided tape, and the plate can be removed/replaced in 30 seconds. No drilling needed.

Even if the sticky pads worked, the screws that GM supplied for the license plate are too long.
They will scratch the bumper. Go aftermarket for a mount!

you can just move to a state that's not as strict.
more expensive yes, but then it's no longer an issue.
seriously, too bad for those that have this issue to deal with.
I'll be doing a road trip in May that, will cover about 10 - 12 states.
I haven't looked see if any of them, enforce the front plate display.
I've got a plate with zip ties stored in the back that, if case I get cited, may allow some freedom. probably not, but that's my plan!

I haven't checked on California's stance, only going off of my driving history.
been driving since 1980, and have always removed the front plate.
been pulled over many times (local police & highway patrol, most of them legit ). but never cited during those times.
I have been cited once by local park ranger and, once by SFPD.
both of these times, while I was parked.
calling SFPD to address this issue, the message said "if you're calling about no front license plate, please press 1". money maker!
on the ranger citation, I never received a court date. hopefully after 4 years, it's a closed issue.

I keep mine in the trunk in the net. The two times in 15 years I got pulled over I simply showed them the front plate and holder and told them it fell off and I have to order a new one.

I keep my front plate between the passenger seat and the console. The one time I was pulled over, I had the plate on the dash before I came to a complete stop. No issue.

in preparation for my upcoming road trip, I guess I should get some excuses ready. while in California, I don't even think about it.
I do have my stowed in the back, for whatever that's worth.

Yes, you are right. I would need to pay an additional $100 and put a sticker on my windshield.
Well, what is done is done. lol. Next year the state government will probably change their minds and I will be ready.

Nelag,
I have a license plate holder at home that looks like Corvette_Ed's, but without the use of double-sided tape. Looks like it attaches further back on the front bumper cover past the painted section.
I'll post a part number if possible when I get home later tonight.
