As far as what to take? Nothing special. Tools, fix-a-flat...nah. Just a cell phone and charger, appropriate clothes, and cash. I only motel'd it one night but, as I usually do, I asked for a ground floor room, close to the front, with parking in front of the room.
You will have a blast!

BTW, my trip was in mid-November so I wasn't too concerned about cold temps. My avatar was taken in Las Cruces on the trip.
Ya, baby!!!

Congratulations on the new 'Vette . You will have a great adventure that will give you many memories.
I was wondering how did you license the new 'Vette? Were you able to register the car in your home state before you traveled to Oklahoma?
I realize that a dealer can provide a temporary tag but what do you with a private sale and there is a lien.
I can't wait to read your updates.

Not sure on your plans for time, but Dallas is about 3-1/2 hours or so south of OK City, and from here you can catch I-20 to I-10 West. Speed limit on I-20 once you get into west Texas is 80 mph (I usually set the cruise at 90), with very little in between towns. Roads are great, straight, and easy to spot any LEO's as it's completely flat.
Head south and pick up I 10 in west Texas, maybe take I8 across to San Diego and up from there depending on where in LA you live.
I think it is great you are trusting the seller, enough to pay for the car up front. Trust him enough that the car can make the trip home without issues.

I'm considering - Tulsa > OK City, Albuquerque Pheonix, LA. I wish I could post google maps here :-)

Or turn off Hwy 40 onto Hwy 54 at Santa Rosa, NM. Go through Alamogordo, and hit Hwy 10 just out of Las Cruces.

If he goes to Albuquerque, he will (Cline's Corners). Looking at the weather, going south at Albuquerque looks best if the OP wants to keep driving. Or just hunker down for a day or two till the roads are clear.

One of them was. I was quite surprised to find that George Maharis was. Did a google search once because that was a favorite show of mine and as a result of my search I found myself directed to a whole bunch of gay websites and forums. Martin Milner was straight.

Have a fun, safe trip. I picked my C6 up in Chicago, came home down through Colorado. The Rocky Mountains were spectacular. I did the trip by myself to San Diego and loved it. Biggest issue was old blown semi tires (gatorbacks) laying on the road. Other than that, loved it. (Anyone that says don't do it is Thats what you bought it for)!!!

the trip to Tulsa and back, with hotels, will probably be under $400. I just returned from a trip to the middle-of-nowhere, TX. Flight and return expenses to Las Vegas were under $200.

First, congratulations.
Second, to each his or her own.
However....keep in mind that I love my vette and I have owned nearly a half dozen of them over the years and driven them a lot...I don't think I would attempt to drive one halfway across the country. Check for a shipping quote.

I would recommend travelling on 40. Only heavy snow area is Flagstaff, and you can watch the weather ahead of time. Once you clear OK, you will be out of most of the rain areas. If you drive carefully, there is nothing to worry about.
i just did 1500 miles in two days, and it was not really that difficult. Of course, I have already seen all the sights along the route, so had no reason not to put hammer down, and go.
You are going to have a GREAT trip!
