Should I get a C6 GS?
Hello all! I'm new here. I currently own a 2010 Camaro 2SS but I've been strongly considering upgrading to a 12-13 Grand Sport.
I've already posted about this over on the Camaro5 forums with a poll. The Vette isn't getting much love but I think in part it could be a bit of Camaro bias being posted on a Camaro forum so I figured I'd post here to see what you guys think.
Below I will just copy and paste my post from there to make it a bit easier.
I've been thinking allot lately of upgrading from my 2010 2SS L99 with 25k miles. Car is paid off plus I have some cash saved that will be getting included in a downpayment on the next purchase. I'm looking at spending around $35k. Preferably low 30s.
Here are the few cars im thinking of....
12-13 C6 Grand Sport (under 30k miles)
18 1SS 1LE (new)
14-15 ZL1 (under 30k miles)
(All in a manual transmission)
I'm completely torn on what car to get. I've seen all 3 of these in and around my price range.
The ZL1s are kinda hard to find it seems.
I've really been leaning towards the GS lately since I've already owned 3 Camaros (2 4th gens and my current 5th gen) plus I really miss the t-tops from my 4th gens and the targa top on the GS would be great imo. The Vette would be something a bit different for me. Plus I love the looks of all the widebody (ZR1, Z06, GS) C6 Vettes.
As for the 1LE, it would be my first brand new car and the styling of the 6th gen has really grown on me.
I've been trying to do allot of research and learning about the 3, especially the Vette since that's the car I knew the least about. I've never driven any of them so that will obviously have something to do with my final decision.
I currently own an auto but plan on getting a manual trans in the next car.

- Any Pros and Cons you guys have on the 3 that i might not be thinking of would be a great help. Thanks guys!

C6 of Year Finalist (appearance mods) 2019
Post a poll here on this forum and find out which car wins.

I urge you to go test drive one. You will dump the idea of a Camaro in a split second. They are COMPLETELY different cars and feel very different. A lot less blind spots and the Corvette will feel like a true sports car.

If the 1LE you are considering is the V6 version, buy the GS. If you are looking at the supercharged SS, buy the Camaro.

Get the GS, I was shopping for a 2012 ZL1 when I came across my 2011 GS 3lt for 33k. It had 33k miles on it. I picked it up and have regrets about it. I had an 05 corvette and 2012 2SS with 466rwhp and I must the Gs seems everybit as fast as that. I love the removable roof and it looks fantastic. Mine has magnetic ride as well. The ZL1 has more hp but the Vette gets more looks.

Try a GS out on the freeway, and on a 'sports car road'. City driving won't give you the true experience.

mines strictly performance based but I truely do. It regret my decision and it puts a huge smile on my face every time I take it out. The biggest thing is that I am hoping to get to 800rwhp, that was the plan with the ZL1 as well. The ZL1 already has the power adder tonit and with engine work and meth you can get pretty darn close. The GS in starting st square one buys it’s a hell of a car and there is nothing better than taking the top off on a nice day.

I just did a quick search on cars.com for Grandsports under 35K and less than 30K mi and it came back with 26 vehicles. I think the OP will be able to find something within his parameters.

No matter what forum you go to, the bias for that car will be strong. Compare a Hellcat to a ZO6 and ask the guys in the Challenger forum. Wonder who will win. YOUR best bet is to drive them both a couple of times and then decide.

There is actually one right down the street from me with 14k miles for $35k but it's silver which is probably the color I like the least. Plus I went and looked at it and it doesn't really look like it was taken care of very well. Front has a small scuff and the front splitter is all wrinkled up like it's been constantly scraped.
I was kinda getting that feeling from my poll on Camaro5. One of the main reasons I made the thread here was to verify just that plus get the opinion from Vette owners.

Definitely a C6 unless you need the backseats than go for the new Camaro. The 6th gens(Camaro) are supposed to be on a great platform.

Big differences in C6 GS auto and stick. The stick coupe has dry sump, rear battery.
