Anyone have experience with Pirelli P zero tires on C6? I had them on my Jag XJ8 and they were solid, quiet, and gripped well. Trying to decide between them and Michelin pilot 4s.
When I owned my '06 considered P's.
2 biggest knocks were price and ultra-soft compound leading to premature wear.
Since I was fed-up w/ GY chose Bridgestone PPs and was quite happy w/ both price and wear especially after having Pfadt Performance-Street specs used for alignment. Amazing & positive difference.
Given all choices highly recommend Michelin.
While M's cost more up front they also last longer w/o compromising traction/drivability over time.
I've had Pirelli's on cars other than a Corvette and never did really like them. I had them on a Mercedes and a BMW and just didn't get good wear out of them.
I have the Pilot 4S on my Vette and like them. I can punch it from a stop and only get a little wheel spin, where my Firestone Wideovals would go up in smoke until I let off. They are comfortable and quiet on the road, good turn in, and grip like hell in the corners and on take off. Can't imagine a tire doing more.
I had them on my Mercedes E series sedan and hated them. They tended to flatspot overnight, were noisy and had a tendency to wander on the freeway. Discount tire took them back after a couple of months and gave me full credit towards the Michelin's I should have bought in the first place.
Just to throw a wrench into your list also take a peek at the Continental Extreme Contact Sport.
My son is with Mercedes and he suggested when I was looking for new tires a year and a half ago to go with Continentals. That is what their dealership normally goes with when replacing tires on a Mercedes.
I ended up with the Continental Extreme Contact DW's and could not be happier, they are quiet, have great grip and track straight down the freeway at higher speeds.
I ended up paying under $800 out the door from Discount Tire for my 2007 Vette convert.
They definitely look good. Thanks for adding to my confusion. LOL
Make sure to get the Extreme Contact Sports. The Extreme Contact DW was discontinued and replaced with the ECS. I got the ECS (after having the DW's on a previous car) and love them. I really liked the DW's (great dry and GREAT wet grip but lacked life and got too hot on track) but the new ECS compound is even better. Better dry, equal wet, better life, much better on track (if you are into that sort of thing).
