Was getting tremendous amount of brake dust on the chrome rims so went with ceramic pads and new rotors!! 100 mile trip and absolutely no brake dust!!! happy camper here!!
Come on, you know you have to post the pads you used. LoL When I got my GS 2 years ago once I heard the squeal and seen all the dust I changed them out. I put in Autozone Duralast Creamic Gold pads and they have been great. Little to no dust and no squealing but gave up stopping power but the Duralast do have an initial good bite.
I had the same results with my 2008 w/Z51. I went with the Carbotech 1521 and Powerstop AR82100 rotors. Minimal brake dust even after 100's of miles. Nice not having to clean those chrome rims after every drive.
I don't like the dust from the OEM pads but they sure do stop well. I see people posting about squealing brakes but mine have never uttered a peep. I learned a long time ago to direct a high velocity stream of water all over the brske pads and calipers when I wash the car. I suspect this is the reason why I never have any noise. It's amazing how much residue gets washed out, no matter what type of pads you have on the vehicle. Give it a try as you might be pleased with the end results.

Had my 08Z for just over a year. Brake dust and squeal was brutal, just about as much as I can stand. I would wash car and have clean rims and be brake squeal for about a half a day. I just installed the Duralast Creamic Gold pads about a week and a half ago. I'm happy to say that I no brake squeal and no sign of brake dust at all. Yes, we give up some braking power, but I don't track the car, so to be honest, for me, I can't tell if lost anything other then squeal and dust.
I should have known that question would have been asked!! Will have to check as i just took it back to Corvette World and had them do the job as i am not the do it yourself person. I will find out as i do not want to be banned!!!! I do know it as $1000 for new pads and rotors!!
Couldn't agree more. The factory pads on my 08 Z06 would turn my competition gray wheels nearly black in a little over a week of driving. Got them swapped out with the Power Stop Z26 carbon ceramic pads. It's been two weeks and the wheels still look great! No more squealing either which is great. It was always a bit embarrassing coming to a complete stop in traffic.
I installed the Duralast Gold ceramic front & rear on my GS about a month after purchase. They did get rid of the awful brake squeal, but my gloss black wheels are still covered in brake dust after one drive unfortunately.
$500 for pads and rotors and 4 billing hours worth of labor. $1,000 is definately on the high side but I can see it. Looks like he has a GrandSport, rotors and pads are a bit more than base brakes.
Labor is real steep if it costs $1k. Carbontech pads for both are around $500 according to their website. Even $500 for labor is slightly lower than what you'll pay to have the brakes done with GM's pads.

Jeez, I hope it doesn't take a shop with a lift and air tools 4 hours to do brakes. I did rotors and pads as well as lubing the sliders on all 4 wheels of my Mustang Mach-1 in under 2 hours with a jack, jack stands and hand tools...
I have rotors and pads being shipped to me right now for my C6. I'll keep track of how long it takes to do the install.

Keep in mind, I said "4 billing hours" not 4 actual hours. I don't know for sure what pad and rotor replacement is per corner but shops bill according to billing hours found in their book, not the actual time it takes to do the job.

That's a good point... still a rip though. This is one job I'm glad I took the time to learn how to do myself as it's saved me so much money. We had a 2004 VW Taureg V8 which has huge brakes. The dealer quoted $1650.00 for rotors, pads and sensors. I bought the parts for $579.00 and did the job myself. I did have to buy one special tool for $10.00 though. Brakes are easy...

I had the same story - bought the same pads and have the same results as you
