I know I'm responding to an old post but I'll take a shot. My problem is that the 2 defrost buttons on the right don't move at all, it's like they're glued in place. All the others seem to work fine. Are you saying that potentially the buttons themselves can be repaired and not necessarily the whole unit?
It's expensive but it looks like replacing the unit isn't overly difficult.
Those buttons are probably stuck from a drink spilling into them. The module can be dismantled and the front panel and buttons cleaned.
You want to make sure you get all residue out of the path the button moves in.

Thanks Gary. I’m going to be installing a new head unit so when I have the console all
open I’ll give that a shot.

You were 100% correct. I cleaned it and now they function perfectly! Thank you so much, you saved me a bunch of money that I will now spend on something else for my car! 😉
So, I have a similar problem. 2011 base model, dual mode climate control. My screen always stays lit, however the controls will not respond on an intermittent basis. In other words, the hvac keeps working, the screen stays lit, but none of the ***** or buttons change the screen or what is coming out of the vents.
Is there a common connection between the control board and the controlcontroller that would be loose as I go over a bump, causing intermittent loss of control?
Seems odd the screen stays lit, but none of the controls affect the screen or the fan, heat,, ac etc.. so it must be a connection between control board and screen and the part of the unit that sends the signals to fan, hvac doors, etc
And it's soooooo easy to do. Now, having done it once, I could do the whole operation in 15 minutes.
First is the Mode Actuator (about $33 from RockAuto) and second is a 5.5 mm driver to remove the two actuator screws. Yes, I said five-point-five, which I had in my very well stocked garage, but I'm guessing many of you don't. You'll also need a 7mm to remove glove box screws, FYI. And a unibit drill. Get a short, fat stubby version like I'm pointing at. You don't want a long skinny bit that might hit something important on the other side before you get the diameter you need work with, which is about 1/2 inch.
So, if you have a B0248 code, or your system is wonky like we've been talking about here, order your actuator and get your tools. This great thread here [ [url]https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums/c6-corvette-general-discussion/4208263-hvac-b0248-error-code.html ] really tells you everything you need to know.
Oh, I did NOT have to replace the Blend actuator that I mentioned in a previous post ($29). When I went from Fresh to Recirc, I could see it working, located behind and to the right of the glove box. But since I have it, it's a real easy job, no drilling of support structures, etc.
You are my hero. I just picked up a 2013 grand sport and thought I was about to be screwed on this. I could NOT find that AC control stack anywhere. After seeing this post and the other post you linked about code B0248, I purchased myself a GM scanner of Amazon and cleared all codes and pulled the battery. This morning I tried the AC and immediately got codes B0248 and B3748 which both related to a faulty mode door. I will be picking up my mode door motor and a drill bit today. Hopefully that's all it is!
