HID vs LED
Has anyone converted to LED headlamps? I have read a lot of opposing views on HID vs LED. I am pondering the next time I have a HID bulb go out to convert. Most of the Vette suppliers have LED conversion kits for $99, where as I paid that for one HID bulb last time. Give me your thoughts!

I'm not convinced installing LED's for the high-beams will improve the brightness. Yes, the LED will not be yellowish like the OEM but the lumen output on the LED is still only about 4000, pretty much like the OEM. I, personally haven't found a LED high-beam with output greater than 4000 lumens after searching the internet for several hours.

I had LED fogs and went with HID fogs on the next C6. I liked my HID's a lot better and they were a heck of a lot brighter. Heard the same from 2 friends as well. Nothing to do with the headlight, but similar question.

Thanks! That is the kind of stuff I want to hear! I was looking to see if the LED were about equal in brightness, as the killer with HID is the price to replace them. If the HID are better/brighter, I will stay with them.

I converted my fogs to HID's and really like them. Really bright and actually don't run them on two lane roads since they are so bright. I am satisfied with the HID's as headlamps and would probably keep them stock if I need to replace the bulb. May convert my highbeams to these LED's next time.
I run them in my trucks and suburban in the headlight and fog light location and they are really bright.

I went with LED high beams ... they are brighter than the bulbs (not HIDs) that were there. Unfortunately, the high beam reflector is such a bad design that it does not matter ... there is more light (and a nicer color) in front of the car, but it is not in any way focused to be useful. For whatever that is worth ...

Daniel Stern Lighting does a great job explaining all of this.
