It may not be exactly the answer you were looking for as far as best product, but in post 8 of the above thread there's a nice video of how someone works some under hood magic...
What is the best product for cleaning and making the engine look like new. A dull shine maybe
My engine bay is always clean. But once a year, I refresh it by using 'trim restorer' on all the black parts [hoses, etc.]. It's worked well for me. The engine bay always looks factory fresh.
Keep water out of the engine bay. Electronics do not like water and as sensitive as these Corvettes are with electrical connections you are far better off with a little dirt and dust.
Mine never really gets dirty under the hood. Just a little dusty. So a couple a times each season I take a damp rag to it. I don't ever use any kind of conditioner on it cause once you use it you are destined to use it forever. The day may come when it needs some conditioner, but won't use it till then.

Thanks for the info, i'm in Florida so not to worry about salt. I shall give the wd-40 a try. I also have some white creamy liquid a dealer friend gave me and it works wonders on black rubber trim on bumpers etc. I am a little concerned about wd-40 gathering dust.

Keep in mind that WD40 is flammable, and despite what some may say, does attract dirt.
I use Basin Tub n Tile Cleaner in a spray can - Think Foaming Bubbles in a green colored can --(Costco 3 pack).. let it sit for a few minutes and wash it off. all 4 cars of mine get it now and then.. , start the engine let it warm up and leave the hood up to let dry. I have not had any problems but then again I use Mobil 1 -- not AMSoil

Kinda like using never -cease, it follows you everywhere
For some reason LS engines seem to never get dirty. My wife's '02 WS6 has the LS1 and after 16 years it looks clean as a whistle. Here's what I do and I expect some kick back on this forum 'cause I've gotten to know you guys/gals. When I finish washing the car I wring out the rag and wipe down everything under the hood with the damp rag just to get off any dust. Here's where you're going to disagree. I take a clean rag and spray it with Armorall. Then I wipe down everything with that rag. This really doesn't leave a film it just cleans everything up real nice. Everybody always comments about how nice and new it looks. I never spray Armorall directly on the engine. Works for me.
I use spray wax on the airbrushed parts and M. VLR on everything else. Spray it on a microfiber and wipe everything down. Looks like new after 11 yrs and 200,000 miles.

Mines is usually clean. But to shine things up I use Back to Black gorks great on all the black in the bay. Hoses plastic. I just spray it around and whip it down.
I use the Gunk foamy engine cleaner if there are some grease/oil deposits.
Then I use the Purple Power degreaser spray to clean everything off.
I usually wipe down the plastic/rubber components with Back To Black or something similar.
