I’ve looked everywhere for a thread on this but can’t seem to find one. My C6 was doing this usual won’t come out of park **** about a year ago, one day I was in a rush and late for work and my dumbass just yanked the shifter back and broke whatever keeps it in park, but everything continued to work fine. Fast forward to about a month ago and I get to work one day, put it in park and it’s staying in acc mode. The dash says “shift to park” and will not start. Any info helps, thanks in advance.
Give the button on top of the shift **** a couple of bumps. If it doesn't spring up all the way the car will think it's not in park.
This has happened a couple of times to mine over the years. I have no idea what it got stuck on, though. I just wiggled it as I pushed it and the button popped back up.

a three page thread on a similar issue in the tech section
I dont remember the thread, but there was talk about a small switch near the shifter that told the car it was in park. Someone suggested that you push forward on the leaver a little harder to engage it. Maybe this was a not starting thread? It was also suggested that the tab could be bent a little to bring the switch back into spec.
