Default Key fob reprogramming help

Hey guys I have a 2007 Chevy Corvette and I just purchased a 2008 key fob I was wondering what would be the programming procedures becauee I do see that they have different ones as far as as the trunk and the key is concerned I just bought the key fob any advice would be greatly appreciated. I did see the sticky procedure but its not working i leave the driver window down door open and old key fob next to the shifter with the glove box open with the hatch popped open. When i go to use my key on the back nothing happens what am i doing wrong

Does the key open the hatch easily? You may need to shoot some lubricating spray into the key hole. When you turn the key 5x it must turn completely.

Not sure why you’d buy a fob for a different year. I bought one for the correct year and had it programmed in about 5 minuets. Cost a whole lot less too.

FWIW, using the "Long procedure" programmed a 2008 fob to my 2005. So it "should work".

Missed the part about the display. Have you checked the fob battery? Does it function normally? Maybe some more info. I’m pretty sure the 05-07 fobs are different from the 08 and later. Not sure if they will work on the earlier cars at all. But I don’t know that they won’t either. Though I’ve owned a bunch of vettes, I’m a newbie when it comes to c6’s.

Unless you want to end up with the new fob in RCDLR slot number 3 (will not work with memory functions), then will need to do the long programming procedure.

https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...tructions.html

So rear latch open, fobs no where near the car , your going to turn the rear latch above the license plate 5 times with the working key in less than 5 second to put the car into relearn mode, and wait out the 10 min count down.

As for the new fob, snap to make a new key that will work with it on the older c6's. Hence the key blank that came with it will not work for the older 6's, so you going to get a B106 blank key, and grind down the head of it/drill the needed hole, to make a longer key blank for the fob isntead.

https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...onversion.html

As for if you are still having problems putting the car in fob learn mode, enough of use with a Tech II's to give you a hand, and just need to know your location so someone close to you can reach out isntead.

FYI, if your car is an export model, the key in the latch is not going to work, and it will take a Tech II, and SPS account to get the car into fob relearn mode isntead. Also to point out, even with a Tech II on export model, you still have the 10 min count down, while a USA model with Tech II does not require a SPS account, nor has the 10 min wait.
To add, if you have an export model, than make sure you have the correct Fob. Hence USA fob will is not going to work, and will need an export model fob isntead.

Had the same problem. Used some WD-40 on the rear keyhole several times and kept turning the key. Apparently the electrical contact was corroded or dirty. WD-40 fixed it.

The key i am using is completely seperate of the key fob, it is a key i got straight from chevrolet. The new key fob doesnt have a spare key as you have to purchase one separate. Ive read here if you want to.use that key you would.have to.change the lock.cylinelder since 08 use a shorter key so i am not worried about that i justbwant to.be able to.use the fob

All C6 fobs are compatible. Year has nothing to do with it.

The keys are different, though.

If you can open the latch with the key, then the contacts for the latch are fine.

So again, make sure that any fob is not close enough for the car to pick it up when you are doing the 5 turns with the latch open.

Once you are in programming mode, after the 10 mins wait, program the #1 back in first, the program the new fob in secondly.

If you can get the car into fob program mode, but the fobs will not program in, check the antenna next to the glove box slot to make sure it's clipped all the way in place/has not fallen out of the clip slot for it.
