What is this
Does anyone know what these brackets marked with blue tape are for? They don't appear to have any function that I can see. I want to get rid of them unless there is a good reason to keep them.

I would have to see in person to tell, but I don't think it would be something I would be worried about. Removing them wont make your 1/4 mile times any faster, and you cant see them while driving down the road, so why do you want to remove them? Just curious. I would leave them if it were me.

I can guarantee there on there for some reason! GM would not spend the money to put random pieces of metal on the engine for no apparent reason,,, now what it's for I have no clue but removed them, hell no !

Well you piqued my curiosity so I had to go look. 07 LS2 track car has a Fast intake in it so they are not there. My 09 Z06 has them.
Right side is where the engine builder put their nameplate( on the Z cars)
But other than that it doesnt look like they really do anything. I think they may be there to protect the rear end of the fuel rails during the cars assembly

Thanks for the ideas. I also thought they might be to protect the fuel rails during assembly or possible collision. I am installing some different valve covers and just trying to uliminate some of the clutter these cars have that they covered up with the plastic covers.

I'm not going to go out to the garage to find out but it sorta looks like the hole the fuel rail covers plug into to hold 'em on the engine.

Hmmmmmmm. I don’t have those. Wonder why.

Burning Brakes
Since the ends of the brackets are curved to protect the fuel rail ends, I wonder if GM installed these to protect that area when the chassis is mated to the body at Bowling Green? With the engine/chassis being from below to the body above, this might be added protection in case of misalignment.
