360 Miles to Lunch! How Far In Your Vette Have You Driven Just to Eat?

On the bike, we and a few friends will commonly ride 200+ miles one way for lunch and back. It's a great way to spend the day. First lesson doing this with the vette, the Gas bill is WAAAAYYYYYYY higher than the Harleys
****Averaged 20 MPG + in the vette, VERY stiff headwind coming back. Watched cars and trucks fight it the entire time. The aero of our C6 just let us slice and dice the wind like a Ginsu Knife. I was extremely impressed. The car tracked just like a slot car the entire time.****
The Harley gets 45 MPG and we would have gotten brutalized by the wind coming back.
****With us, it's really not the destination, it's the journey that we enjoy.***
Next week looks to be BBQ in KC for lunch!

Right on! The journey is the best part for sure. Thanks.

Correction: if that’s 345 miles one way, and 690 round trip, then that’s the farthest meal trip yet.

Our Vette group takes lunch tours sort of locally and some to places a bit farther. It'd be hard to tell how far the longest is, since some people may drive 100 miles to the meet-up point before the lunch cruise. We had one cruise that was 540 miles total from Central Phoenix to Oatman by the way of Flagstaff and had lunch with a Vette group from Las Vegas, before returning directly to Phoenix.
We've driven 286 miles to have lunch with our daughter and family a few times, before she moved to Colorado. Needless to say, we don't go 880 miles to see her for lunch anymore.
When you live in Phoenix, it's a road trip just to another state, but not near as bad as living in central Texas.

We’ve done 200+ mile round trips to eat several times. It’s more about the ride than the place we eat for me.

lunch trip
luckily ( or not ), I've got a few good spots locally.
but when the need arises for burger, I've a spot about 1-1/2hr away.
not much of a drive I know, but it's worth it. not that I need a reason for road trip.
now, coming up in mid may, depending on how you define a round trip for a good meal, I'm heading out from no. cal. going to Toledo to
tony packo's. chili dogs and / or chicken paprika to die for!
just under 6k miles.
will that count

I'm in trouble now my wife just saw this and said see people do actually drive these cars. Sounds like you had a great time and that is what life should be about.

The wife and I were big fans of the "Man vs Food" program of a couple of years ago and we were amazed at how many of the stops Adam Richman made in the midwest. From BBQ in KC to Pizza/Chili Dogs in Chicago, steaks in Omaha and danish foods in Minnesota, we have always wanted to hit some of these spots and sample the food.
That's the plan for this summer, road trips for eats.

Being in the San Diego area, we do not have to go far for good eats. Seventeen miles to the coast for seafood, 24 miles south to Old Town for mexican food or 25 miles to Little Italy for Italian. Its all pretty close and just far enough for a nice drive in the Vette!
