ls3 engine air filter replacement?

hey guys im wondering would my local mechanic know how to change the engine air filter on my 08 ls3? iv had good service from him with cheap parts and labour. im going to get it done along with replacing my battery but do you guys think theyd know how to replace air filter for ls3?

Save some $$ and DIY. Simple instructions in the owner's manual.

If your local mechanic couldn't change an air filter on an LS3, I think hes in the wrong job.

Or you could go to Autozone (or equivalent ) and replace it yourself in less than 10 minutes, and save yourself a bunch of money.

Even this gal says it's easy.

You'll have fun. I just did mine at around 45,000 miles. I have had my car over 4-1/2 years and knew nothing about cars. Thanx to the Corvette Forum and online video tutorials, I have done the engine air filter, oil changes and brakes/rotors.

Just did mine, super easy,make sure you have Torx bit #25 I think it was, videos on Youtube, I didn't take the housing off the car,just loosened hose clamp on intake,lifted it off and turned it sideways.

Just for grins...why not ask your mechanic if he knows how to change air filters... would be interesting to post his reply to you,, word for word.

I bought this one for $15 (RockAuto) but I haven't installed it yet. Any reason to pay up for the OEM replacement?

PRNDL .... Got to hand it to those crafty Chinese ...

And there made in China $15 filter is more than likely just as good as our made in USA $80 filter.

Bottom line ... We are never going to be able to successfully compete with them in the marketplace !
