I have yellow and love it! That being said, get the color you want so you don't regret the move. There's plenty of Z's out there!!

Good Luck with your decision!!

Personally, I am not that gaga over the Z06, and the only one I ever considered was a '11 Carbon Edition, but it had to be Inferno Orange. Couldn't find one for the price I wanted to pay, so didn't have to stress about it. There's also the issue with the heads that you can read up on around here, which many say is an immediate $4k fix if they haven't been addressed by the previous owner. If you're happy with your '13, and you said you don't really care for the color of the Z06, I would spend your $$ modding your car to be exactly how you want it.

Unless financial considerations force you, NEVER buy a car with things you specifically do not care for. You will regret it within weeks because you will see the same car that is exactly what you wanted, and will kick yourself for "settling".

Keep looking....

Never buy a car that you don't like! It won't get any better over time.

i have a 07 z06 and knowing what i know now, and what ive spent i would been FAR better off with a GS thats a m6 and ls3, then put a blower on it and made more power for half the price.

the ls7 is a work of art but man can it be a costly pain in the A**

i would hold off if i were you
GS has the same body as a z AND the roof comes out.....winning on both counts

At first I considered a GS, pros - top coms out, it looks like a z06. Cons - top doesn't come out, unless you get the 2013 427 edition but, bottom line the GS is it's not a Z06. I assume that's why you are considering the Z06. There are plenty of Z's out there in colors that you prefer. I would hold out for the color your prefer, even if you have to consider making it a day trip. I did and have no regrets picking up my 08Z last year. Now for more important advice, learn about the head issue and options to get it fixed. Some say there is no issue, I'm not one of those. Too many have reported exhaust valve out of spec, some lower then 5K miles and even lower were reported. I couldn't afford to just ignore it as I didn't have $15K to $20K just laying around to replace engine that imploded, dropped a valve, to be more specific. My 08Z had 23K on it when I purchased it last year. I skipped paying to have heads inspected and just sent heads to AHP and they were out of spec. Odds CAN BE LOW for it to happen to you but, that's something you will you will have to consider. I had quotes for around $2500 to $3000 to fix a local shops here in Indy. or, there is a great writ-up in the Z06 side of the forum if you are somewhat mechanically talented. I opted to AHP package 4 heads and did the work myself with some minor mechanical abilities for around $1400. With the money I saved in labor I added headers, tune and experience. No regrets, I think the experience brought me closer to appreciate the LS7.

The Z06 is a fantastic car. I had a base C6 before my Z06 as well and it only took about 6 months before I considered making the jump to a Z06. I never considered a GS because I wanted everything that makes the Z06 special (That 427 7.0L engine, carbon fiber front fenders, balsa wood floorboard, lighter weight, aluminum frame etc).

That being said, I don't know that I would recommend getting it in a color you will not be happy with. That is definitely a big part of the purchase. Color (and trim - 3LZ) was very important to me. I know I only wanted JSB or AO. After seeing JSB in person, I knew I had to have that color. It took me about 3-4 months of searching before I found the perfect Z06 for me.

The heads issue is definitely real. It will cost roughly $2,000-$2,5000 for the heads issue to be repaired by a reputable shop with AHP heads. If you are mechanically inclined, you can do it for about $1,400. I ended up only looking at Z06s on the forum here that had the heads issue already fixed.

Keep your eyes on a Z06 and keep looking if you're not crazy about yellow. You will find the right one for you, absolutely love it, and never look back.

Well, I "mapped" you and you are quite a few TX miles from a lot of towns which makes looking at other cars difficult. Still, I have to agree w. buckmeister, jrose and others above: don't buy a car with major things like color that you don't like.

While there may not be a lot of Z's in your immediate area, if you open up your search area and be very patient you may find a car you want. It's not easy to wait, or search or go check out a car. But settling for a car that has major things like the color that you don't want is a big no in my opinion, and personal experience.

Your decision, your money and your time to find another alternative. Good luck no matter what you decide to do.

Regarding your 08'-13' trade off question:
With the LS7 you will be gaining quite a bit of power. The 13' should have the newer model seats which alot of people including myself feel are more comfortable than the early model seats. There are some other differences like wheel's and paint colors that are different from an 08' to a 13' but all in all if the 08' is well looked after it should present just like a 13' with the big benefit of being a Z06.

I'm a red Corvette guy, couple exceptions being 2 C3s silver/green.
Watched an '08 JSB 2LZ Z06 w/ Nav/chrommies sit unsold in my dealer's showroom over a year. $84K.
Whenever in for service I cringed seeing it, while loving the thought of owning such a beautiful, powerful machine. $ made that unlikely.

So GM goes bankrupt, late '08/early '09.
Dealer doesn't know if they'll have a job anymore.
While in dealer buying a Cad CTS4 casually asked what they'd give me for my VR '06 Z51 MN6 car w/ 18K, and, discount off '08 Z06.

Made a deal I couldn't refuse, I drove it & wife Cad home that day.
Wasn't what I wanted, but man JSB grew me to become one of my favorite all time colors.

Today I'd buy a Z06 in primer grey so long as it had the LS7.
G/L, but color's something one can learn to appreciate.

Thanks for all the responses guys and much respected opinions. as a fellow member stated, i am atleast 4 hours away from a city that could have potential z06's to look at. I dont really trust buying from my region.
i have been holding off on modding my c6 because im not sure if i want to just get a zo6 and not mod it (i feel its stock power is enough). I will keep searching for the car i want and color, meanwhile enjoying the one i have. Its just hard to pass up a good deal sometimes. once again thanks all! all your resposnes and opinions are greatly appreciated. sometimes it takes reading a few responses to ground yourself and not pull the trigger on something you might not like. thankss again guys!

Absolutely. Keep the search going. You will be much happier when you get a color you're completely happy with. That LS7 is worth the wait. Trust me.

Like others have stated color is a big factor in car purchases especially Yellow. It is a love it or hate it kind of color.

My thoughts on your dilemma is that the jump you'll make from your 13 to a Z isn't going to be gigantic.
The Z is superior, but also comes with a whole new arena of issues and concerns. If you were going from a 05 base or base C5 to a C6Z it would make more sense.

Like others said get the color you want. Verify the heads have been done or get them done! Enjoy the car like it was suppose to be enjoyed!

Good Luck

So many vettes for sale in many colors, if u dont like yellow then dont get yellow. If u like skinny women would you marry a fat women and vice versa. You dont want to get stuck with a car or wife that you will have to trade in, its gonna COST U BIG TIME.
