Default P2135 Throttle Positioning Sensor

Just had my Throttle Positioning Sensor replaced (New) 2 years ago and it just threw my car into limp mode this past weekend CODE P2135. Only summer drove the car...shouldn't these last longer than this? I don't drive hard and only run Premium. It's a $700 hit plus labor that GM won't cover as there's only a one year parts and labor warranty...which is BS. Are there any other solutions to resolve this sensor issue without having a new one installed? HELP! Could someone reply to bill@kx947.fm at your earliest convenience please. Thank you...

Sorry for your troubles. Weather, driving habits or type of fuel should not affect the sensor which is built into the throttle body. Not sure of your year model but $321 and about 30 minutes to swap it if you can turn a wrench. Does require a relearn so research that.

Looks like the diagnostic steps to fix P2135 all lead to either fixing a wire, replacing ECM or replacing the TB. Good luck.

Thanks for the speedy reply. I've an 2005 C6 six speed manual convertible. Could you point me in the direction to pick up this part for that price please. I've priced it out from the dealer...it was three times as much...thank you.

Don't laugh....WalMart (ignore the generic picture):

Others: Amazon...Rockauto....search "217-1617" or"12570790"

Don't think you really need a scan tool to do throttle re-learn. Here is shop manual procedure:
Throttle Learn
Important: Do NOT perform this procedure if DTCs are set. Refer to Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) List - Vehicle .

1] Start and idle the engine in PARK for 3 minutes.
2] With a scan tool, monitor desired and actual RPM.
3] The ECM will start to learn the new idle cells and Desired RPM should start to decrease.
4] Ignition OFF for 60 seconds.
5] Start and idle the engine in PARK for 3 minutes.
6] After the 3 minute run time the engine should be idling normal.
Important: During the drive cycle the check engine light may come on with idle speed DTCs. If idle speed codes are set, clear codes so the ECM can continue to learn.

⇒ If the engine idle speed has not been learned the vehicle will need to be driven at speeds above 70 km/h (44 mph) with several decelerations and extended idles.

7] After the drive cycle, the engine should be idling normally.
⇒ If the engine idle speed has not been learned, turn OFF the ignition for 60 seconds and repeat step 6.

8] Once the engine speed has returned to normal, clear DTCs.

Is a fixable problem, without having to buy a New TB, or new parts.

Control motor side of the TB is retained to the TB via security hex bolt, so with them removed, you can pull the motor plate side apart to clean the swipers and stat contact surface to solve the problem.

Awesome! Thanks man...much appreciated. What a learning curve with this car...I'm also wanting to replace the on board computer...you really seem to know your stuff...any suggestions on where to buy and how to install? I have an Ace mechanic...I refuse to go to dealer unless absolutely necessary. Thanks again...look forward to hearing from you

No worries, and when you pull the motor plate, the ones marked "sucked drill out", use a solder iron to heat up the thread loctite compound on the motor bolts to remove them. The swipers are under the gold plate and once you remove it will see the problem with the swipers just need to be tweaked a touch more outwards, and the stat pad they sweep again, needing to be cleaned up so they can get a good contact.

As for cleaner, CRC electrical spray contact cleaner (red can, not the blue one).

The throttle vain side of the TB as a slot end on it, so pretty hard to screw up the index when you put the motor plate back on.

When you put the bolts back in, use Blue 242 loctite.
