Default memory seat exit position

My memory seat exit position is set to move my seat all the way back for exiting. Sometimes this works and sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes it will move the seat back but does not move it forward again when starting the car. Anyone know what might be the problem?

I believe the handbrake has to be pulled for the exit position to be activated when the door is opened. I don't believe the seat resets to your memory (driver 1 or 2) without you pressing the button manually. That's how I do it every time. Haven't seen any other way to do it in the manual.

You do have a driving position programmed into memory, right? They are separate functions.

No, you do not need to press the button each time if it is set properly. As DD indicated, the driving position and the exit position have to be set separately for it to operate automatically.

Also, when you start the car, if you immediately take it out of Park (A6), the seat will not move to the driving position. It must first sense that the car is in "Park". It takes maybe 2 full seconds, at which time, the seat will begin to move. At that point, you can take the car out of park, and the seat will continue to the set position.

It's programmed for memory and most of the time it works but lately not so much.

My life is complicated enough as it is, I try to ignore all this stuff the best I can.

My seat has been in the same position since I bought the car four years ago. I have never monkeyed with the "Exit" stuff because I'm lean, healthy, and don't need it.

The other day I adjusted the seat a bit and, not really sure what to do, I held the "1" button down until it beeped. Now the thing goes to what I guess is the "exit" position, and back again to the drive position when I get in.

How do I get it to just stay in place all the time like it used to? If I don't use the "exit" thing then it won't break and complicate my life.

Turn off the memory option for "Auto Exit Recall."

I have a manual transmission, is that why the driving position isn't recalled automatically when i close the door and start the car?

Did I activate it by moving the seat and pressing the "1" button?

I thought you had to turn it on with the memory option on the right side of the dash, but it wouldn't hurt to look at the memory option to see if it's turned on or not.

I really enjoyed my C6s while I had them, but GM could have made a few things on it less complicated.

After getting the no airbag warning on my 2012, I quit letting the seat move, even after the local Chevy dealer tightened the connections under the driver's seat.

If the car is an automatic and you have turned on both of the auto seat functions (auto memory recall and auto exit recall) you can set the telescopic steering, mirrors, and seat to where you want them when you drive by pushing and holding the #1 button or #2 button depending on which one is yours. You have to do this while the car is in park. Whenever you enter the car from that point on it will set your driving memory position when you start the car. You can likewise set the position you'd like the steering wheel and seat to go to when you want to get out of the car. You do this by setting the new position and then pressing and holding the button between the 1 and 2. This is your exit position. When you turn off the car and open the door it will move the seat and steering wheel to the easier exit position you've created. (You can also move it to this post pushing the unlock button on the key fob when the car is off. In case the significant other drove the car last)

If you have a manual, you program everything the same but you have to physically push the #1 or #2 button to tell the car you want your seat and steering wheel in driving position (memory recall). The manual drive will still automatically move you seat and steering wheel into the exit position when you turn the car off and open the door.

I have an auto, but I want the seat TO STAY WHERE IT IS when I get in or out, like it did the previous four years before the other day when I had to monkey with it.

No, just turn OFF Auto Exit Recall in the DIC.

When I got my '05 I turned it on because I thought it was a cool feature but then I got the dreaded seat click and thought I'd try and minimize wear and tear on the seat by shutting that feature off. So just go into the Personal Options in the DIC and set it to No.

How did it get "On"?

Quoting myself from above:
My seat has been in the same position since I bought the car four years ago. I have never monkeyed with the "Exit" stuff because I'm lean, healthy, and don't need it.

The other day I adjusted the seat a bit and, not really sure what to do, I held the "1" button down until it beeped. Now the thing goes to what I guess is the "exit" position, and back again to the drive position when I get in.

Somebody enabled that option, maybe a previous owner or Dealer.

If you don't want to mess around with the DIC Options, just set the seat where you want it and store that setting into both memories (drive and exit) by pressing the #1 button and after it beeps, press the exit button til it beeps.

OP are you using the same fob every time?

You have separate memories/presets for each fob.
